Today, for the first time, you can pre-order Temple. It took two years. Our founder, @deepigoyal, and a team of scientists and engineers set out to build the best health wearable ever made, right from day one. I am proud and delighted to be part of this team. In our treadmill study, Temple was the most accurate heart rate wearable tested, ahead of Apple Watch, WHOOP, Garmin, Fitbit, and Oura. It also shows how blood flow to your brain changes through the day and gives you a live stress reading. See how you respond to a meditation, a tense meeting, a hard workout, or a bad night's sleep. Star Trek imagined one small device that could read your body. We want that future for everyone, with your health in your own hands. At Temple, this is just the first step. The vision is much bigger, and we are only getting started.
Temple pre-orders open now. Order at temple.com, or from the app at temple.com/app

FUEL DUTY FREEZE CONTINUES: A 16th-YEAR VICTORY FOR FAIRFUELUK DRIVERS LOBBYING THEIR MP, THE PM. CHANCELLOR. But pump prices must be cut NOW, and the Govt must put transport at the heart of economic growth FairFuelUK welcomes the Government's decision to freeze Fuel Duty, but warns that motorists and businesses desperately need action to bring down punishing pump prices, particularly the dangerously high cost of diesel. Howard Cox, Founder of FairFuelUK, said: “Thank goodness common sense has prevailed. Freezing Fuel Duty is a victory for drivers, businesses and sustained campaigning. But let's be clear: a freeze is not a cut.”“For nearly 17 years FairFuelUK has fought to stop politicians treating drivers as cash cows. Now the Government must go further and get pump prices down.” THE DANGEROUS COST OF DIESEL MUST FALL “Diesel is the working fuel of the economy. It powers the lorries, vans and commercial vehicles that keep Britain supplied. When diesel becomes excessively expensive, the cost feeds through transport, distribution and businesses and ultimately puts pressure on consumers.”“You cannot say economic growth is your priority while making it increasingly expensive to move virtually everything Britain produces, sells and consumes. Getting diesel prices down must now be an economic priority.” 113 COUNTRIES HAVE ACTED. BRITAIN MUST DO MORE The IEA 2026 Energy Crisis Policy Response Tracker confirms governments around the world have introduced measures to support consumers in response to the current energy crisis. FairFuelUK cites IEA data showing 113 countries and the European Commission had introduced policy measures supporting consumers and businesses in response to rising energy costs by June 2026, with 55 countries adopting taxation measures. Cox said: “If governments around the world can act to protect consumers and businesses from an energy shock, Britain can do more too. Affordable fuel isn't just a motorists' issue. It's a cost-of-living, inflation, business and growth issue.” IFS WRONG AGAIN: WHAT DOES RAISING FUEL DUTY COST BRITAIN? The Institute for Fiscal Studies has previously estimated that retaining the full 5p Fuel Duty reduction permanently would cost around £2.3bn a year by 2029-30 relative to then-current forecasts. Howard Cox responded: “Here we go again. When it comes to Fuel Duty, I sometimes think IFS stands for the ‘Institute for Fiscal Stupidity’.”“The planned increase in punitive Fuel Duty isn't money the Government already has. If Ministers don't take that additional tax, more money stays with families and businesses to spend, invest and meet their costs.”“Before asking what freezing Fuel Duty costs Whitehall, ask what raising it costs Britain. If growth is the priority, leaving more money circulating in the real economy instead of increasing the cost of mobility is a no-brainer.” NOW LET'S GET BRITAIN MOVING In the next few weeks, Howard Cox will publish his 20-year transport and mobility strategy, developed with input from more than 80,000 FairFuelUK supporters, drivers and public transport users. The strategy will put economic growth, productivity, affordable mobility and a more efficient integrated transport system at the centre of Britain's long-term transport policy. “Britain cannot keep running transport policy from Budget to Budget and crisis to crisis. Mobility drives growth.”“This isn't motorists versus public transport. It's about making roads, rail, buses and future technologies work better together so people, businesses and goods can move more efficiently.”“My challenge to MPs and the mainstream media is simple: judge this plan on the evidence and what it can deliver. If we make Britain's transport system more efficient, affordable and joined-up, their constituents, readers and viewers benefit. Businesses benefit. Communities benefit. Above all, the economy benefits.” PM, CHANCELLOR AND TRANSPORT SECRETARY: LET'S MEET Howard Cox is asking the Prime Minister, Chancellor and Transport Secretary to meet him to discuss the forthcoming strategy. “I will bring the strategy. I will bring the evidence. I will bring the views of more than 80,000 transport users. All I ask Government to bring is an open mind and a willingness to listen.”“Freeze the tax. Bring down pump prices. Get diesel costs down. Then let's sit down together and build a transport system that gets Britain moving and our economy growing for the next 20 years.”

This is happening right now in New York. Thousands of people transferring their sins into live chickens. Then the chickens are slaughtered and sent to the same stores as any other chicken. Someone is eating a bird a stranger used as a vessel for their guilt. 🧵 (film link in thread)

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: UK GOVERNMENT UNVEILS £22 MILLION INVESTMENT TO HELP REPLACE ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS In a potentially huge step forward for animals used in laboratories, the UK Government has announced £22 million of new investment into technologies designed to reduce and replace animal testing. The funding includes £20 million for a new national centre developing sophisticated human-based models, including miniature human organs — known as organoids — which can be used to study diseases and test medicines without relying on animals. A further £2 million will support projects including beating human heart cells grown in the laboratory and AI systems designed to predict how drugs move through the human body. For animals such as beagles, who are still bred and used in laboratory research in Britain, this could represent an important move towards a very different future. And it raises an important question: Could this eventually spell the END for MBR Acres — the Cambridgeshire facility that breeds thousands of beagles for use in research, including dogs destined for experiments and terminal blood collection procedures? This announcement does not mean animal testing has ended. Animals continue to be used in scientific procedures across Britain, and the real test will be how quickly these new technologies actually replace their use. £22 million is a welcome start. Now we need to see real change — and fewer animals being bred for laboratories. 🐶 Could this finally be the beginning of the end for animal testing in Britain? #AnimalWatch #BreakingNews #AnimalTesting #MBRAcres #Beagles #doglovers #animalnews

You have been told exercise is medicine. Here is why no pill has matched it. Scientists put 175 sedentary adults through a single workout and sampled their blood, fat, and muscle before and after. In blood alone, that one session changed the activity of more than 7,000 genes. That is the problem with bottling exercise: it does not flip one switch. It moves thousands at once, across tissues, and on its own schedule. This is the first human map of the effect, and it is still a preprint, so the results are preliminary.
A single exercise session triggers over 17,000 molecular changes across muscle, fat, and blood. The MoTrPAC Consortium just published the largest molecular atlas of acute exercise ever assembled, profiling 175 sedentary adults before and after their first workouts. The study tested something fundamental: what happens at the molecular level when someone who doesn't exercise does a single bout of endurance or resistance training? Researchers measured transcripts, proteins, metabolites, lipids, and epigenetic modifications in skeletal muscle, adipose tissue, and blood at baseline, immediately after exercise, and at intervals up to 4 hours post-exercise. The goal was to create a comprehensive map of how different tissues respond to different types of exercise. The headline finding: a single exercise bout produced 17,662 molecular features that changed significantly across all three tissues. The responses were tissue-specific, time-dependent, and distinct between endurance and resistance exercise. Skeletal muscle showed the most dramatic response. At 30 minutes post-exercise, 11,026 features had changed, the vast majority (85%) from endurance exercise. By 4 hours, those changes persisted, with 6,978 features still significantly altered. Endurance exercise induced larger acute transcriptional responses than resistance exercise. Endurance activated 2,000+ transcripts in muscle tissue at the first post-exercise timepoint, while resistance activated roughly 400. That's a 5-fold difference in gene expression response from the same tissue to different mechanical stimuli. The difference reflects the metabolic stress imposed by each modality. Endurance exercise demands sustained ATP production and oxygen delivery, activating pathways for mitochondrial biogenesis, angiogenesis, and oxidative metabolism. Resistance exercise creates mechanical tension and muscle damage, triggering protein synthesis and structural remodeling pathways. Adipose tissue responded differently. Both exercise types activated lipolysis and lipid mobilization immediately post-exercise, but the transcriptional response peaked at 1 hour and largely resolved by 4 hours. Fat tissue responds acutely to exercise-induced fuel demands but doesn't sustain the same level of transcriptional activation seen in muscle. Blood contained the most diverse molecular signals. The study identified 184 proteins, 246 metabolites, and 233 lipids that changed significantly after exercise. Many were known exerkines, molecules secreted during exercise that mediate cross-tissue communication. One unexpected finding: circulating proteins showed exercise-modality-specific signatures. Endurance exercise increased proteins involved in vascular remodeling and oxygen transport. Resistance exercise elevated proteins tied to muscle damage, extracellular matrix turnover, and growth factor signaling. These aren't generic stress responses. They're coordinated molecular programs tailored to the specific mechanical and metabolic demands of each exercise type. The temporal dynamics matter. Some responses peak immediately, others at 1 hour, others at 4 hours. Metabolic shifts (glucose flux, lactate clearance, fatty acid oxidation) happen within minutes. Transcriptional responses (gene expression changes) peak at 30 minutes to 1 hour. Protein-level changes lag by hours. This sequence represents the cascade from acute metabolic perturbation to transcriptional activation to protein synthesis. A single workout initiates processes that take hours to unfold at the molecular level. The study identified central regulators: transcription factors that orchestrate tissue-specific exercise responses. In muscle, PPARGC1A (PGC-1α), a master regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis, showed strong upregulation after endurance exercise. Resistance exercise activated mTOR signaling and myogenic transcription factors tied to hypertrophy. These findings validate decades of exercise physiology while adding molecular precision. We've known that endurance training improves mitochondrial capacity and resistance training builds muscle. Now we can see exactly which genes, proteins, and metabolites mediate those adaptations, starting from the first workout. What makes this dataset unique is the integration. Previous exercise studies measured one or two molecular layers in one tissue. MoTrPAC measured five omic layers across three tissues from the same individuals, allowing cross-tissue and cross-omic analysis. This reveals something critical: exercise doesn't just affect the muscles doing the work. It triggers systemic molecular communication. Muscle releases signaling molecules that reach adipose tissue, liver, brain, and immune cells. That's how a local mechanical stimulus produces whole-body metabolic benefits. The practical implication: even one exercise session produces measurable molecular adaptations. Those adaptations accumulate over repeated sessions, eventually manifesting as improved aerobic capacity, insulin sensitivity, mitochondrial density, and cardiovascular function. But those chronic adaptations depend on initiating the acute response consistently. The molecular machinery that responds to the first workout is the same machinery that will respond to the hundredth. Consistency compounds because each session triggers the signaling cascade that drives adaptation. The study used sedentary adults, which means these are the molecular responses in individuals who haven't been exposed to regular exercise stimulus. The magnitude and duration of these responses may differ in trained individuals, where some pathways become more efficient and others remain persistently upregulated. This matters for understanding exercise dose-response. If you're sedentary and start exercising, the acute molecular response will be large because your tissues haven't adapted yet. As you become trained, some responses attenuate (you become metabolically efficient) while others amplify (you build greater capacity for certain pathways). The MoTrPAC dataset will serve as a reference for future studies examining how disease states, aging, medications, and genetic variation modify exercise responses. If we know the normal molecular signature of exercise in healthy sedentary adults, we can identify who responds differently and why. This is the foundation for precision exercise medicine: understanding individual variation in exercise response at the molecular level and using that information to optimize interventions. One limitation: the study measured responses up to 4 hours post-exercise. Some molecular adaptations, particularly protein synthesis and structural remodeling, occur over 24-48 hours. The full acute response extends beyond the measurement window captured here. Still, the dataset represents the most comprehensive molecular map of acute exercise response in humans. It confirms that a single bout of exercise is sufficient to initiate coordinated molecular programs across multiple tissues, with distinct signatures for endurance versus resistance modalities. The decisions about whether to start exercising in the third or fourth decade may determine whether these molecular pathways remain responsive in the sixth and seventh decades. Exercise adaptability isn't static. It's a capacity that can be maintained or lost depending on whether the signaling cascades are repeatedly activated or left dormant.
