Serious and silly, side by side. Both are needed to cope and survive in our world. If you can't handle serious takes on theology and politics sandwiched between silly quotes, memes, etc., "Get used to disappointment."

It IS important that we vote AGAINST things (and people) AND I get that voting FOR one thing is voting AGAINST others. But it helps to remember the positive changes we want to vote FOR. Keep it positive and tell me what you are voting FOR! #Vote2026

Correct.
So much of Christian Nationalism is actually Islam. It’s very weird. They believe they can lie to advance their agenda. The state and faith are one. Women must be repressed. And then there’s the facial hair on all the bros.

"Diggory isn't hot enough" and "the magician is too hot" and apparently she doesn't recognize that Aslan is clearly male with a full and wonderful mane. What is this other than sad cultural eisegesis and assumptions of wicked motives?
Gerwig is an exceptionally talented film-maker. The aesthetic quality of the trailer is impressive. If all the trailers strike this note, it will be hard for all but the most resolved audiences to resist watching. Personally, I enjoy the cosmic rock aesthetic. It might not be the best possible option, but it resonates with the world in which we live and is akin to Lewis's own tactic in the Cosmic Trilogy - the modern imagination is still alive when it comes to space and the psychedelic tones of rock; that's fine—we can use that living margin as a way to bring in a renewed experience of the divine. However, I predict that, like Barbie, MN will be an well-made, incredibly attractive subversion of the cosmic order, rather than a renewal of it. The sci-fi style cosmic rock won't be used to introduce us to the transcendent Christ but to transgressive magic. A few details in the film indicate the direction of the subversion: - Diggory is a fearful, passive dough-boy while Polly is attractive, lively, and adventurous. This is tired, typical feminist story-telling. God forbid an active, adventurous boy be shown caring about his mother and capable of a sympathetic and redemptive narrative arc. - Uncle Andrew is far too attractive. In a world waking up to occult magic, where libraries feature books for kids on how to be a real witch, I am concerned that the film will portray him as sympathetic and his quest to unlock magical powers as something to imitate. Based off background interviews, I believe the goal of the Lewis Estate and Gerwig is to strip Narnia of its Christianity, leaving only an attraction to the vaguely magical. - The Wood Between the Worlds is a jungle, unlike the Sequoia-style peaceful wood of the book. This indicates a more pagan vision of the world as chaos rather than Lewis's medieval vision of a cosmic order. This is a minor detail and may be of no real significance. - We still haven't seen or heard Aslan, but the lyrics land on "SHE'S buying a stairway to heaven" the moment when HIS outline appears, and we get a close up of Polly's face first. It seems to me that all signs still point to an Aslan more befitting an acid-fueled rager during pride month than the Narnia of Lewis.

How can she be mad that Diggory looks like Lewis as a kid? When Diggory/the professor is OBVIOUSLY Lewis's stand-in in the stories from the very beginning.

BREAKING: In a stunning moment, CNN Senior Data Analyst Harry Enten just exposed how Republicans have collapsed entirely in Texas. Democrats are favored to win Texas statewide for the first time in decades! Let's go.

This
Lots of folks in the pro-life movement browbeat and shamed people for not supporting Trump, and now we have more abortions, the generic abortion pill, a completely watered-down GOP plank on abortion, and public executions. Absolutely pathetic and very, very sad.

There are quality men all over this country (and dare I say, beyond this country). Men who love their families, sacrifice for the greater good, and are productive members of society. Men of faith But they don't look like any of these men (Peterson, Trump, Rogan, Tate, Musk)
The arc of this book is fascinating and sad. Oliver is desperately looking for a masculine role model, and is consistently disappointed. First Jordan Peterson, then the IDW, then Trump, then Joe Rogan, then Andrew Tate, then Elon Musk, then Trump again. They all let him down.

Fwiw, Talarico has accepted four separate invitations to debate Paxton. Paxton has refused every one. Would be the first Senate race without a debate in Texas in 25 years. Either POTUS doesn't know this or is muddying the water about who is dodging who.

There's no shame in wearing a cheap suit. The suit on the left supposedly cost $20k, according to the wearer. It's from Savile Row. Someone at the tailoring house told me that this person interjected a lot during his fittings, which is why the suit doesn't fit very well. The wearer was both too confident in their opinion, but not educated enough on tailoring. A dangerous combination. The suit on the right costs $200. It's from Jos. A. Bank. I think it fits better than the $20k Savile Row suit. It fits well because the wearer is humble and took the time to learn some things about tailoring. Thus, he was able to select something that looks good on him. No one will ever see the label inside your suit. They will not know the maker or how much it cost. Thus, the only thing that matters is whether something fits and flatters you.
Listen, Joe Banks were affordable suits I could buy when I was a young professional in DC. (I then took them to a little tailor in Arlington who made them look even better.) I don't know why a billionaire POTUS wears them, but no hating on Joe; he clothed me in the 80s and 90s.

Wow. Charlie Kirk show trying to pretend this was a win. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
CHARLIE KIRK SHOW: Gotta give you some flowers. Dang! So you had text messages from Jack Smith's team confirming he was going to a Hawks game, and he sat there acting dumbfounded? ERIC SCHMITT: It was the only NBA game going on at that time in Atlanta. He claimed later that he was at another game. Here's the thing -- my job is to ask the questions (All of Schmitt's facts were wrong and were debunked during the hearing in near real time, but The Charlie Kirk Show hosts won't acknowledge that)
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Sen. Eric Schmitt mixed up references to the Iowa Hawkeyes women's college basketball game with the Atlanta Hawks NBA game when questioning Jack Smith. Smith attended the Feb. 3, 2024 Hawkeyes game in Maryland (not Atlanta). reuters.com/world/us/forme… thehill.com/homenews/senat… hawkeyesports.com/news/2024/02/0… basketball-reference.com/boxscores/2024…

Ten years ago I decided that, because Trump was morally / mentally unfit, I would never support him for president. That decision had professional consequences. But I’ve never been more sure I was right. And I now expect my view will be vindicated within my professional lifetime.

Every time a racist says something racist or a patriarchalist says something misogynistic and wants to "clarify" what was "out of context," let them. They are just going to dig a deeper hole.
