Strongly disagree. Rules are non negotiable at our table. Other rules are. You will eat it or go hungry and tell the cook it was delicious. Pick up your plate and put it in the dishwasher after scraping it in the (chicken feed)bucket. It’s common courtesy.

Depends. I always had a variety of foods available. Anything new, the rule was take 1 tablespoon. Try it. If you like it, there’s plenty. If you don’t, now, you know. They could pick and choose and still have balanced diet. However, grandchild’s friend demanded pizza… didn’t fly
