secret wilderness

There was a Noah’s Ark mural at my grandmother’s church and the gators were awesome

Cool synth find at my grandmas funeral

Was listening to The Seventh Seal by Scott Walker on the way to work and Kim just texted me that Max Von Sydow passed away yesterday, we shared a birthday too. Thank you for all the wonderful films.

My grandmother died in her sleep sat night at 102 years. I spent all Sunday doing what she loved more than anything which is working in the yard tending to plants, it was a great way to remember her.

Was listening to Odelay while I was painting this weekend and I think it’s such a phenomenal Los Angeles record, every song has traces of the LA Beck grew up in cut into pieces and edited back together like a film

Hide / Lazuli / Cursed Church at Rhizome was bananas, the pure nihilistic fuck off show DC’s desperately needed the past few weeks

Alcian Blue, Skywave, Aerial Love Feed, all us second wave shoegaze bands getting panned by critics cos we liked Creation Records heard this album and realized we were on the right track, eventually the press caught up (see APTBS, Pains of Being, Etc)

I programmed drums for this Static Daydream cover of The Cure's Exploding Boy, was a fun to challenge to program very analog drums and not make them feel too machine driven, also a killer Cure track staticdaydream.bandcamp.com/

Playing bass w Ice Out tonight at @galaxyhut come get some totchos

One of my favorite things about the Cocteau Twins is how on their full length records they'd always pull all the stops on the last track open.spotify.com/track/48nnl…

First thing I ever saw Danny Aiello in was The Professional, one of my faves (esp 90's NYC film), typically a mob boss character would not be the character that pushes the plot forward in a film but that's just one of the many brilliant things about this film.

The @Moonerband record I mastered is up, a Poison cover in the vein of Buddy Holly, Bee Gees in the vein of Taylor Swift, Tears 4 Fears ala Vince Guaraldi, an absolute beautiful Depeche Mode cover and lots more.. Great album for road trips: music.moonerband.com/
