If I were a Christian Id pick Eastern Orthodoxy. It holds closest to the unbroken apostolic traditions and early church practices without later Western additions or the endless splits of Protestant groups. The focus on mystery continuity and lived faith over pure rationalism or hierarchy feels most coherent.
Interpretation requires a mind. Scripture does not have a mind. Therefore, scripture doesn't interpret scripture.

“Scripture is infallble, not the Church”…
— Without knowing it, apparently, you contradict yourself:
Christ is Infallible.
He never wrote a thing.
He inspired the Apostles in and through His Holy Spirit to write.
Thus, what was written was without error, to be sure, as The Spirit of Truth gave it.
The same happens by/with/in Christ, i.e. in His Body, of which He is the Head. The Church IS Christ in this sense — His Body, He, the Head.
Thus, it is very strange and confused to believe that the record of His ministry is superior in terms of Truth, infallible, and yet Christ Himself in His Body is not….
Moreover, there is NO OPPOSITION, nor could there be, between His Scriptures and His Body. For another reason: the Scriptures were written in/by the Lord in His Body, by Members of His Body.
Finally, the Church is NOT HUMAN alone; it is Divine-Human, being the THEANTHROPIC BODY. So, while you imagine that the church is human alone, and thus fallible, all of Scripture, which you consider infallible, PRONOUNCES IN HARMONY and ONE VOICE:
CHRIST IS IN OUR MIDST; HE, not I (a human), LIVES IN US; HE MAKES HIS ABODE IN US; WE ARE HIS MEMBERS; THE CHURCH IS ONE, THE BODY OF CHRIST…
And so forth and so on…
If you do not live this thanthropic Mystery and reality, and thus recognize all of this, it must be because you are not in The Body… otherwise, you would not speak of The Body as you do…
What other explanation coudl one give?

The Protestant mind cannot comprehend, trusting the disciple of John the apostle (St Ignatius) to know what his teacher meant in John 6:53
The Church fathers provide the correct lens through which to interpret the Bible. They're not in opposition to it. Ryan is a hack.
The Orthodox Church is the only Church that still officially upholds the duty of the Christian State to God. The rest, including Rome in Gaudium et Spes and the religious liberty errors in the other documents, has rejected its former Christian state teachings. Protestants are 99% opposed to a Christian state. Much like the anathema service, this is yet another clear proof as to which Church teaches the same thing as the first millennium church - proving which is the one, true Church.
Sitting down?

My politics are whatever gives us a decent, Christian society where people can have big families, moms raise the kids instead of daycare and public school, and nobody gets murdered just for being unborn, inconvenient to their mother, or white.
My previous position was physiognomy is mostly astrology for men, but I may be starting to come around 😂

Before Christianity, much of the world practiced child sacrifice
Now, many atheists will argue that child murder is obviously wrong, even without Christianity
However, as the western world has strayed from Christ, it's clear that child sacrifice is once again being normalized

Women have been treated as second class citizens for most of human history because that is what it takes to maintain a stable and successful society.
The Psalms have prayers to the divine council, after the resurrection humans join the divine council. It would be foolish to not see how prayer to Mary can be justified within scripture.

On Ortlund's remarks about saintly invocation being post 2nd/3rd century, can Ortlund show Augustinian predestinarianism prior to the late fourth/early fifth century? How about Limited Atonement?
No, he can't. Even Augustine strained to do the former when pressed.
On the other hand, baptismal regeneration can be shown to have existed in the time frame Ortlund denotes, yet this doesn't apparently move the ball for him. So, it wouldn't matter if we found saintly invocation expressly exhibited in the first or second centuries. Ortlund would just dismiss it out of hand as well and retreat to his own judgment as to what scripture teaches. That is, he will only be bound by his own reading of Scripture.

God didn't need Adam and Eve to name the animals and yet he wants us to be co-laborers/workers with him. This is a silly argument.
Praying to the saints is solving a problem that does not exist.
Jesus does not need Mary or anyone else to placate Him so we can get through to Him. His work at the cross is sufficient, and He Himself is the one interceding for us right now. (Rom 8:34)
This practice has historically slid Mary and others into the role that belongs to Christ alone:
1 John 2:1b
We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
Jesus isn't our reluctant Savior who just needs some convincing.
