New updated guidance from MHRA on #antidepressants. Updates include the following-
“The term “Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction” (“PSSD”) will be added to the PILs of antidepressants associated with a risk of sexual dysfunction that may continue even after the drug is stopped”
The MHRA is introducing a series of new measures to strengthen how risks associated with antidepressant medicines are communicated to patients, carers and healthcare professionals. Read the full drug safety update here: brnw.ch/21x6qlr

So important, not just in major disasters but in every case.
In our recent study of student suicide, having heard from bereaved families, we called for a duty of candour to apply to universities.

It’s often said suicidal men don’t ask for help.
But we found 2/3 middle-aged men who died by suicide had recent service contact, 1/3 in previous week.
We need to make these contacts count, be vigilant, enquire further.

Important thread on student suicides by @ProfLAppleby below. Thank you Louis for sharing and letting us know better methodology allows for clearer national data.
New figures on student suicide published today by @ONS for 2016-23, Eng & Wales.
Numbers are higher than previously reported, 160/yr on average. Not because they have actually risen but through better methodology.
Student suicide rates remain low compared to gen population. 🧵

It can seem there are too many “campaign days” but #WorldSuicidePreventionDay matters.
First, because the stigma & shame of suicide remains strong in many places.
Second, because for bereaved families, this is a vital day of remembrance.
