Hey folks!
Recently I got a note from a friend excited that the church she was attending was using my paintings on the screen from Four Holy Gospels @crossway. She was excited that my works were being used. She even sent a photo of it.
The problem: they did not ask my permission to do so. The artist owns the copyright to their works even if it is used in a book. Even if the presenter gives attribution, the presenter must ask for written permission.
The photo showed that the colors were way off. It made me sad.
Digital images flatten my images. If I am presenting and using images, I spend at least half an hour to color correct the projector color temps (they are often too βhotβ). I never use my works as stand-alone images nor as projected images and I never overlay or crop. This is to protect the integrity of the original.
Churches - please respect the copyright of artists. Thank you.

Wendell Berry was often accused of offering no solutions to the problems he pointed out in his work. There was a time I thought this too. The more I read him I understood his solution is to change our way of thinking to value God, people, family, community & land more than money.

Dear College Board,
Consider this a public warning: any further backroom tactics or efforts to use public-records requests as a means of burdening or intimidating us as a competitor will be met with complete transparency.
Our legal team has now had to devote time and resources to responding to the public-records request you submitted in Texas. You are, of course, entitled to make such requests. But understand that the same public-records laws are equally available to us. For everyone of these you throw at us we will throw five back at you. I canβt imagine what we could uncover from the decades College Board has spent wining and dining elected officials. Keep playing dirty and it will all be exposed. All of it.
We are fully prepared to submit corresponding public-records requests regarding College Boardβs activities, communications, lobbying efforts, and state contracts across multiple states. We are confident that sunlight and transparency will serve the public interest.
CLT has competed in the marketplace openly and fairly and clearly we are winning. If College Board is concerned about losing market share, the answer is not political maneuvering or attempts to burden your competitor. The answer is to serve families and schools better, improve customer service, and offer a product that earns their trust.
We welcome truly vigorous competition. Because those of us who do not live in comi-land know that competition benefits the students we exist to serve.

Truly I married one of the most beautiful women in the world. She's a great mom and there is no way to express all she's done for me.

Today Iβm enjoying this small volume by @jpoch. Pondering this: βThe ego is all. The humility is all. Most poets would do well to obsess over both.β

Was honored to return to @gracecollege for the #WinonaChristianWritersConference. Blown away by the culture @jpoch and Dr. Rich are building! It was special reading from my first book in front of the Briscoes, who invited me into the softball/Paraguay story years ago. Go Lancers!

Extremely well-written review of @jpoch's "The Future of Love"....
