From tomorrow, all adults in NI will be considered potential organ donors unless they choose to opt out or are in an excluded group. New legislation, known as ‘Dáithí’s Law’ in honour of 6-year-old Dáithí Mac Gabhann, will change how consent is granted. health-ni.gov.uk/news/daithi…
Six year old Dáithí Mac Gabhann has been on the waiting list for a heart transplant since 2018. During this time his family have worked tirelessly to campaign for a move towards soft opt-out law and to promote organ donation.

Before I turn in, today in Parliament we defeated a Tory MP’s Bill on deporting asylum seekers regardless of any “inconsistency or incompatibility with international or other domestic law” or “any decision or judgment of any international court or body”. A victory for decency.
