Statement from the Chief Minister on the Chorbagan Tragedy: He is deeply anguished by the tragic incident in Chorbagan. 18 precious lives have been lost, 1 person is critical and 25 others are injured. This is an irreparable loss for West Bengal. WB BJP Government stands firmly with the affected families and has decided: 1. An ex-gratia of Rs. 25 Lakh and a Government job will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased. 2. Rs. 5 Lakh and full medical expenses at a hospital of their choice will be borne by the Government for the injured. 3. The investigation has been expedited on a war-footing. All CCTV footage and other evidences are being thoroughly reviewed. 4. Hon CM has written to the Hon'ble High Court to assign a sitting judge to ensure time-bound justice and exemplary punishment for the management and all those responsible. CM appeals to all with folded hands - please do not politicize this human tragedy. All senior officials of the state are personally monitoring the situation. While we cannot bring back those we have lost, I assure the people of West Bengal that every necessary action will be taken. @SuvenduWB
