Frustratingly a job I was really excited about has fallen through due to a lawyer screwing up. So, I'm still looking for a new role. I'd really love to find something in the music industry, but open to anything! xitter.cf/jonty/status/186723155…
So I've been notified that my role is at risk. Would anybody like to hire a me. I've spent the last 7 years as chief software architect, which realistically meant doing every job from infrastructure to product. I am interested in everything, and curious to try new things.

I like python and postgres, but happy to quickly pick up any stack. You do not want me anywhere near your frontend code. In my free time I also run a camping festival, an arts building, and have founded more than one hackerspace. I have a lot of very weird but useful experience.

I would really love to work in the music industry again if anyone has a jonty-shaped hole. I was part of the early last.fm team and miss it dearly. Music is my happy place, especially live music.

The new Google Assistant voice model struggles with place names. I found one that makes it hallucinate. Welsh speakers: I apologise for my pronunciation of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

I made a Numbers Station! It only plays artists called "Numbers". There are so many artists called Numbers. SO MANY. open.spotify.com/playlist/4K…

There are only two hard problems in music: Naming things, and artist disambiguation.

I am fairly sure a squirrel has disabled our security camera. Fully expecting to get home and find the house cleaned out of nuts.

After a week of repositioning cameras to follow their route, I have finally identified how animals are getting into our garden. The battered oil painting nailed to our fence has a hole behind it. The goddamn foxes have a secret door.

By popular request: A fox illicitly gaining access to our garden using the hidden hole behind a painting. Now if you'll excuse me I have a fence to board up

Today I did nothing on my critical to-do list, but I did use a chainsaw and communicate directly with a satellite

Please sign my petition banning use of the word "secret" to describe something when explicitly advertising it. Your cocktail bar is not secret, your pub garden is not secret, your cinema is definitely not secret

That said, it is an extremely good indicator that the thing is shit and should be avoided

The exception to this rule is secret nuclear bunkers, which are universally excellent

We have been sat in the new house for one hour and I have already seen two people stop and stare at the plug socket on our front gate

Until now I had not considered the sheer nonsense potential of living in a house with regular foot traffic past it. I have three payphones in my shed and no impulse control
