No. This is not what is needed. A rethink on VAT is needed. #VatinlinewithEurope

So two things here.
1. Yes, a Review of Business Rates is just a smokescreen to take away attention to much needed VAT reform for our industry - our industry leaders shouldn't be hoodwinked.. #Oneask #VatinlinewithEurope #Vatstheproblem.
2. Not one of the people in this photo have signed this edm.parliament.uk/early-day-β¦ nor have the @Conservatives pledged to cut vat in line with Europe despite repeated conversations with @griffitha

The campaign to bring Hospitality VAT in line with Europe has now reached another milestone, with 50 MPs backing EDM 65944.
This is now a cross party parliamentary campaign.
The question for everyone in hospitality now is simple.
Is your MP one of the 50?
If not, why not?
If your MP hasnβt signed this, then ask them where they stand.

This would go such a long way to help once thriving businesses come back and help out the 18-25 year olds. This sector is being hammered and ignored. Treated as an endless tax paying machine. #VATsTheProblem
Proud to support the #VATsTheProblem @cheftomkerridge @ukhospitality campaign.
Hospitality is not asking for a handout. Weβre asking for a level playing field.
Across much of Europe, hospitality benefits from a reduced rate of VAT because governments recognise the value the sector brings to jobs, communities, tourism and local economies. In the UK, we remain one of the most heavily taxed hospitality sectors in Europe despite being the countryβs third largest employer.
Every pub, restaurant, cafΓ©, hotel and hospitality business creates opportunities for young people, supports local suppliers and helps keep our high streets alive. We create jobs, drive tourism, generate investment and help build thriving communities.
A reduction in VAT to European levels isnβt about protecting profits. Itβs about protecting jobs, supporting growth and securing the future of an industry that millions of people rely on.
If hospitality succeeds, towns succeed. The economy succeeds.
The industry needs to come together and make some noise. The more voices we have, the stronger our message.
One industry. One voice. One ask.
Itβs time for the UK to recognise hospitality as the economic powerhouse it is.
Please support the campaign, sign the petition and share it with your teams, colleagues, suppliers and customers.

We have been banging the drum on this for at least the past year. Rachel Thieves just doesnβt listen @RachelReevesMP step up and save the industry or at least give it a chance
"A reduction in VAT is the biggest thing that would save hospitality."
Thanks to @ChefTomKerridge for highlighting on @bbcquestiontime how the UK's VAT rate is an outlier compared to our competitors.
That's why we have been calling for a lower rate of VAT for hospitality.

Is @Keir_Starmer Trump 2.0? Blocking @AndyBurnhamGM via a fake vote NEC 8-1 !!!! Democracy is what is needed. This move will simply magnify and accelerate what you were trying to stifle. Almost as if you donβt understand politics

The selections for Labour candidates needs to be more democratic and we should end NEC impositions of candidates. Local Party members should select their candidates for every election.

In a debate on Extended Producer Responsibility, @DrNeilHudson emphasised the hospitality sector contributes Β£93 billion economically and is the third largest employer in the country.
The tax burden must be shifted. EPR is adding to the cost crisis facing hospitality.
X is full of delusional , gaslighting @UKLabour MPβs trying to say they are pro business. @RachelReevesMP is systematically destroying hospitality losing 100k jobs and average 22 businesses per week - just stop insulting the industry please #smallbusinesssaturdayuk
