Here is a quick recap on our tech / AI stack at Alpine Modern.
I have paid plans for Claude, ChatGPT and now @bot
We use @basecamp internally for communication, project management, etc...That is the backbone of our ops.
I use @SuperhumanMail for email that sits on top of @GoogleWorkspace (Drive, sheets, docs, etc..)
In the last couple days I've connected @basecamp to @bot via the basecamp CLI. @bot also has connectors into all google services, superhuman, @granola for meetings etc..
The advantage of the basecamp CLI is that @bot can use its virtual computer to connect to @basecamp and nothing needs to run locally on my MacBook. So it's always on and can always work.
I spun up a web hooks using @Cloudflare and with a little finessing got an agent 'Alpy' active inside the basecamp projects. Now I can query the Alpy inside basecamp, assign it tasks and it runs independently.
Next I need to transition some of the skills that were running locally in Claude Code to Grokbot... it's a bit of work getting all this setup.
Here is an example of a project it's working on independently as I type this, assigned in basecamp.
1. make an equipment tracking spreadsheet for each Alpine Modern location to track all equipment service records... preventive maintenance, Work orders, total spend etc..
2. go into the service providers portal (via @1password shared logins) or into my email and download all invoices ever (133 of them) for each piece of equipment. Put those invoices in drive and then pull out all the service notes and put them in a spreadsheet by equipment ID.
The longterm goal is that a manager will be able to chat with our Alpy in basecamp and ask questions like, "when were the steam wand kits last replaced on the La Marzocco?"
With all of these tools I'm able to do stuff I've always wanted to do and operate at a higher level. Its insane...
Holler if you have suggestions or questions. Happy to share!
AI is forcing us to confront the actual nature of the work we do.
Take graphic design...
When Claude can create a brand asset, choose type, and arrange elements in aesthetically pleasing ways, what is left for the designer? Well, arranging pixels on a screen was never really the job.
Excellent designers are at their core cultural observers--They notice what is happening in the world, synthesize it, develop a point of view, and translate that point of view into relevant visual form as a participant in a live, relevant dialogue with culture.
Designers whose primary value was execution are increasingly replaceable. Designers with this deeper skills will maintain relevance and increase in value.
As a side note, I suspect artists will increasingly move offline or to non digital mediums where their work cannot be gobbled up as training data for the models in an attempt to maintain this essential nature of their work and stall the advancements of AI into this creative core.
For all my restaurant operators out there-
What sales per labor hour are you shooting for? What is top tier excellent?

i don’t think we’ve fully processed how big this AI wave shift we're living in really is.
every app, job and business that was built around humans doing the clicking is about to get rethought.
for 40 years computers were like cars where we had to do all the driving, and now they’re becoming chauffeurs where we just say where we want to go.
Re: dating… Religious communities have real utility in the dating market.
They become a sub market of the wider mating market and act as a filter.
By participating in the community and aligning with the religious values, you become a viable mate to other participants. Often times mates that don’t adhere to the religion are not even considered.
you can effectively go from being a small fish in a big pond to being a big fish in the small religious pond.
I think these mechanics end up driving religious adoption.
A lot of guys are going to “find God” as they seek to find a mate. Especially given how totally insane the current dating market is. Just watch.
Attention Young Men:
I am surrounded by 20 year old girls in my life that are smart, capable, hard working and cute. Nobody is dating them. Not sure what the deal is, but I don’t get it.
Step 1: Stop playing video games
Step 2: Head to great clips and get that lettuce cleaned up
Step 3: Hit a shower (when dating hygiene is critical)
Step 4: Go clean your car
Step 5: Sign up for a yoga class
Step 6: Go to the yoga class
Step 7: Ask a cute for her phone number at yoga class (yes you can meet girls IRL and not just on the apps - 10/10 the Dirt Dog highly recommends)
Step 8: Follow up within 2 days with a phone call and ask them out for this coming weekend Friday or Saturday night.
Step 9: IMPORTANT - come up with a good game plane for date night. Get a dinner reservation, get an activity planned. Let them know in advance what you are doing so they can dress appropriately. I know you are gunna roll off the couch and head to date night, but they are not. They are going to stress about what to wear and call at least 6 different people on FaceTime to ask their opinion.
Step 10: I highly recommend you bring flowers to the door step. I’m not covering that you go to the doorstep, because if you don’t do that you have no hope here. Women want men to date them. You don’t need to break the bank on flowers. Head to Trader Joe’s. Grab 2 different kinds of flowers. If you don’t know what matches find the closest looking lady to your mom at TJ’s and ask her. Wrap the 2 flowers into 1 bouquet with paper. Bonus Points you can cut open a TJ bag and use that as the paper.
Step 11: Be a gentleman on the date. She isn’t there to hear your life story. Ask her about her. For every 1 question you answer, ask her 3. Open Doors, pay for the meal, be polite.
Provided you follow most of this guideline you are highly likely to get yourself an opportunity for date number 2.
Keep going until you find someone that you can’t imagine not being around all the time. That’s when you have found a good one for you.
My life is complete with my wife as my companion. I wish you the same fortune in life. Happy Hunting.

AI prediction:
Businesses that have historically relied on switching costs to retain customers will face growing pressure as AI agents make switching between competitors easier, faster, and lower-risk.
The result: more competition, lower prices, and less tolerance for mediocre products and services.
This is so incredibly stupid (and wrong) on multiple levels.
1. Buying elections: Incentivizing people with $5,000 if they vote a certain way is corrupt.
2. Spending a trillion dollars when our national debt is compounding is stupid
3. Flooding the economy with a trillion dollars will only drive further inflation and hurt people at the bottom.
If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2026 Midterm Elections, I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America, $5,000! Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to signing those checks!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This repeats a promise Trump made in September 2026. The US has approximately 250 million adult citizens so the total cost would be over 1.25 trillion dollars. Congress must approve any such federal spending.

“Dad, my friend just got a new Audi for her sixteenth birthday. it has red leather interior. Could I get a car like that?
“No… no you cannot”
Meanwhile I’m picturing my first car that I paid $500 cash for. 1990 Honda civic. It was awesome.
Back in my day you had to build a financial model by hand in excel. I learned how my business worked doing that painstaking process. Now, you just connect Claude to excel and let it rip. Problem is you don’t learn much.
The AI Doomers who say that AI is going to make a robot army that self replicates have obviously never built anything in the physical world.
