Who out there would find a Computer Architecture blog or podcast interesting? What if I arranged to do one in collaboration with folks like @AMD, @Arm, @intelnews, @risc_v?
On some level I agree. But on another I don't. Many friends have entered software engineering without formally studying it, but they're *very* smart women and men who could easily understand this, if it was ever made accessible. I intend to make it more accessible to everyone.

Not only that, but they even include RAS tables etc. you would expect from a high end PC/workstation class experience
Unlike Qualcomm’s Windows on ARM laptops, RTX Spark uses ACPI. Booting Linux should be very easy on these Nvidia ARM machines. No device trees here.

First thing I did when I got the original retail Spark was to decompile the ACPI tables and look at the PCI integration to see how far off acceptable it was…and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it was quite acceptable!

That was of course before I ran anything else on the machine - priorities 😉

It’s always exciting when you get to call a technical support and they actually understand works like “your service is applying an egress filter on my traffic because you are applying MAC filtering”. Would be nice if @verizonfios actually told folks to go to the activate site 😉

I was fully expecting to talk to someone who heard “your confugulating multiplexer is bypassed” and would ask me to turn it off and on again but - credit to Verizon Business - their tech understood and told me I was in walled garden and how to fix. They never sent activation 😉

So it was only 15 minutes to fix. Now of course if I ran the service it would have sent the activation email in the first place.

Spotted a DeLorean at a stop light with the MA license plate BKNTME or similar. Kudos to that person for keeping the dream alive

“A useful filter going forward is…If it's only "not how I'd have built it," let it go, or note it for a later fix like this one. Someone who reads memory-model specs for a living will notice a lot of things that fall in the second group.” I feel seen by the AI

How many others rabbit hole down into ASHRAE/Manual J/D and have reached the point of purchasing manometers? 😂

Not sure why folks are surprised. Apple’s CPU design team is absolute world class. Yes, even if they sometimes have a few folks leave to do their own startups. I would be surprised if the 20% rate did not continue for a very, very long time yet 👍

Shana Tova friends. I married into the tribe and am a proud dad of a Jewish son. Who is looking forward to his apples and honey later 🥰

Never forget what happened on Sep 11, 2001. Let’s spare a moment to think about all those poor folks who died, and the sacrifice of US service members afterwards. Wherever we stand on the political spectrum, we are all human. And the human condition is what binds us together.

Fun fact - 80% of Apple’s compute capacity is used to render Craig Federighi’s hair

My favorite @tim_cook moment was when he took the plunge on Apple Silicon. Sure, he didn’t design it (Srouji’s org did) but such a move had to have his fingerprints on it 💪
