Day 57 of our John O’Groats to Land’s End charity hike and it’s a rest day today in Okehampton - of course, we’re taking in @OfficialECFC v @WFCOfficial
850 plus miles hiked, around 150 to go, feet are in shreds but a big week of trekking ahead.
RIP Glen Hansard. Ever since I first saw ‘Once’ when it first came out, his music has been a staple in my playlists and a mournful delight to experience. So very sad.
Day 4 complete of our Biiiiig Adventure - John O’Groats to Land’s End. Another tough 18 mile slog over hills, avoiding huge Lorries on the A9 & this time, the treat of Dunrobin Castle to welcome us into Golspie.
73 miles of the 1000 miles ✅
Toes and feet 🤢
@OfficialClarets
If anyone would like to follow our shenanigans, we’re ’Cirque de Sore Legs’ on Facebook and Insta. Be prepared for ugly feet and broken men. And it’s only day 4 of 66.

Day -1, we find ourselves sitting in the most Scottish of bars in Wick, watching Spain v Belgium, avoiding asking where we can watch England tomorrow & thinking of tomorrow morning. 1000 miles from John O’Groats to Lands’ End, with all raised going to Essex Air Ambulance.
I3 years in the brewing, & now, finally, here we are. Fair to say I’m a bit scrambled by what lies ahead but 1 day at a time, 17 miles a day & the UK’s longest pub crawl?
If you’re even half curious (bi-curious?), then check out Cirque De Sore Legs on FB/Insta @CLARETGAVIN
Just popped out for some milk and some watermelon, £70 later…..curse you, new #HMV
Looks like I’m about to relive my 20’s 🤷♂️
Feels a bit weird today, prepping a cricket bag and kit ready to play for a new team. 32 years turning out for Willingale, toiling away for little reward, but happy being in amongst mates. A cold cider after. A new chapter tomorrow for @_GBCC 🫡🏏🤝
Jordan and Cian Adams, the FTD brothers, running the marathon Sunday, just watched the VT on @BBCBreakfast
Absolutely heartbreaking but what a wonderful man, I’m there supporting my daughter Sunday but would love to follow their progress if anyone has their race numbers?

A final piece of advice from Holly Butcher - written the day before she passed away from cancer at just 27:
“It’s a strange thing knowing you’re going to die young.
At 26, I thought I had time…
To fall in love.
Start a family.
Grow old.
But cancer doesn’t care about plans.
Now, I understand how fragile life really is. Every single day is a gift, not a guarantee.
I’m not writing this to scare you. I’m writing to remind you: really live.
Stop stressing over little things. Be kind to your body- move it, nourish it, stop criticizing it. One day you’ll wish you had appreciated it.
Go outside.
Look at the sky.
Feel the sun.
Just be.
Spend less time chasing “stuff” - more time making memories. Don’t skip moments with people you love.
Laugh more.
Write a note.
Tell someone you love them.
Complain less.
Give more.
Helping others brings more joy than anything you can buy.
Be present.
Put your phone down.
Show up - really show up.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need a perfect body, or a perfect life.
Just follow what makes your heart light up. Say no to what drains you. Make changes when you need to.
And please - donate blood. I wouldn’t have had that extra year without it. And that year gave me memories I’ll hold close… forever.
Thank you for reading this.
Live your life well.
And maybe… we’ll meet again someday.”

Repost & share Holly’s important advice. ❤️
Georgia is running her 1st ever marathon soon, she’s having doubts and is nervous but I know she’ll give it everything and finish with a huge cheesy grin. If you have a spare fiver, I know she’d be incredibly grateful, as it’s a cause close to her ❤️ 😘
