The candle dance is a traditional Rakhine dance that was revived in 1996. Rakhine and Lanna are geographically very far apart,so how can we simply assume that it’s originally a Lanna dance? I think it’s worth looking into the history before making that assumption

Funny how @HeeAdonis was the one who dragged ENHYPEN into this by saying they were hell for HS, yet evergenes never said a word to defend them. They were too busy liking and RTing that Enha anti’s tweets, and now they wanna blame ENGENEs instead of that rat 😭
i just find it so hypocritical how some of yall are quick to jump to someone’s defense when they get dragged, but suddenly go mute when the same thing happens to the six 😂 yall got the members on your username, pfp, whole layout, etc. but have absolutely NOTHING to say when your own biases get dragged through the mud😂 where’s that same energy? why is the outrage suddenly nowhere to be found?
some of yall act like the other fandom can do no wrong while painting engenes as the problem, when half the time, people are literally just returning the same energy they’ve been giving the six. mind you, the latest altercation was started by that fandom but somehow engenes are still the villains yeah sure 🫶

OT7s when Enhypen fanbases post photos with 6 members: "This is so disrespectful to Evan. Enhypen has 7 members!”
Meanwhile Evan:
People who keep insisting that it’s Lanna can’t even provide a single picture as proof.
We Burmese people have historical records, including pictures, the exact timeline of the Yadanabon Era (1859–1885).

I want to explain why we are speaking up about the cultural representation in #ScarletHeartTH.
Scarlet Heart is already a globally recognized story, and its Thai adaptation has been highly anticipated, especially because GMMTV has cast some of its most popular and well-known actors. As fans, we have waited for this project for over two years, and we understand how much excitement surrounds it. We want this series to succeed, and we want to see the actors we love shine on an international stage.
But supporting a series and protecting our cultural heritage are two different things. One does not cancel out the other.
This is not just an ordinary fictional story that will be watched and forgotten. It is a major production with the potential to reach audiences around the world. A project of this scale can introduce people to a country's history, traditions, clothing, and cultural identity. That is precisely why cultural research and accurate representation matter so much.
When audiences around the world see a costume presented on screen, many may naturally assume that it belongs to the culture of the country producing the series. If a historically significant Myanmar traditional costume is used without proper research, context, or acknowledgment, there is a real concern that international audiences may mistakenly identify it as Thai traditional attire.
The costume in question is associated with Myanmar's historical heritage, particularly the Yadanabon era. Myanmar's traditional clothing did not simply appear without a history. Its development can be studied through historical records, paintings, photographs, and other cultural documentation from different periods. These are matters that can be researched and examined through evidence, rather than dismissed as mere opinions on social media.
Thai productions can portray other cultures, but cultural exchange requires proper research, respect, and historical accuracy. Concerns about a costume’s origins should be taken seriously, not dismissed as unnecessary criticism.
Myanmar is a country whose people continue to struggle for freedom and a better future. At the same time, preserving our history and cultural identity remains an important responsibility. Our circumstances do not make our heritage less valuable, and the challenges our country faces do not mean we should remain silent when we believe our culture is being misrepresented.
To those asking why we are making an issue out of clothing in a television series, please understand this: we can love the actors without agreeing with every decision made by the production team. We can support the artists while questioning the production's cultural representation. And we can look forward to a series while asking its creators to be responsible.
Our criticism is not an attack on Thai people, Thai culture, or the actors involved. It is a request for accountability from a major production company whose work will be seen by an international audience.
GMMTV has had more than two years to prepare a project of this scale. We believe that researching the historical origins of culturally significant costumes should be part of that preparation. We are asking the production team to review the concerns, consult reliable historical sources and relevant cultural experts, and provide clarification where necessary.
We are not asking anyone to blindly accept our claims. We are asking for the same standard we expect from any major historical production: research the facts, respect the cultures being represented, and take legitimate concerns seriously.
Loving our artists does not require us to stay silent about cultural misrepresentation. Supporting entertainment does not mean abandoning our responsibility to protect our heritage. We can do both.
Our history matters. Our cultural heritage matters. And asking for it to be represented accurately is not causing trouble. It is asking for respect.

Dragging Myanmar’s civil war, poverty, and migrant workers into a costume debate just to look down on an entire nation is a cheap way to dodge the actual issue.
A country’s struggles do not erase the value of its history and culture.
We know Scarlet Heart Thailand is fiction. But since when does fiction mean costumes are beyond criticism? Just because Thai audiences don’t mistake the outfits for traditional Burmese clothing doesn’t mean Myanmar people have no right to point out the resemblance.
Defend the costumes with historical evidence. Stop using Myanmar people’s suffering to dismiss legitimate cultural concerns. That’s not an argument.

Look on the bright side. Many people who initially had no intention of watching this series might now stop by to check it out for entertainment.
Many Myanmar netizens on X seem so proud of their grand history but it remains to be seen whether the younger generation can truly restore the country to its former glory.
Currently, the nation is engulfed in war and unrest, forcing millions to migrate to Thailand both legally and illegally to make a living. National treasures were also stripped away when the country fell under British rule after the fall of the Konbaung dynasty. Yet, out of nowhere, they choose to sit around nitpicking costumes in a Thai series simply because they can't distinguish that this is a fantasy drama.
Has the production team ever claimed that these are historical costumes of any specific nation or ancient Thai attire? Furthermore, most Thai people have enough judgment to distinguish fiction from reality. No one is confused or mistaking them for traditional national costumes as they worry.

The more I look the more I realize the Htaingmathein isn’t the only issue.
They’ve disrespectfully mixed Myanmar ethnic cultures into a frog-fish hybrid.

Why am I seeing Burmese traditional clothes ????
Most of the characters are wearing Shan culture from Myanmar . But I don’t want to blame because Thai and Shan have similarities.
But these clothes in these pictures are Burmese dresses from Yadanabon Era.

HS left his team abruptly BEFORE TOUR, to rearrange over 30 songs, choreo formations, re-film content, &basically WORK TRIPLE & not sleep for months - so that he can eat, sleep, walk, and watch movies to "find himself" and discover Avril Lavigne just to look like a dumb poser.

Every time Myanmar people point out how strikingly similar the costumes in #ScarletHeartTH look to traditional Burmese attire, some Thai fans rush to defend it by saying, “Lanna was once under Burmese rule, so of course our cultures are similar.”
Honestly, that argument is getting ridiculous.
Are you seriously suggesting that because Lanna was once under Burmese rule, you can use Burmese traditional attire from ANY historical period and justify it as cultural similarity?
Myanmar’s traditional clothing has distinct styles across different historical periods. Taungoo-era attire and Yadanabon-era attire are NOT the same. They belong to different periods, with different characteristics. If you cannot even distinguish between them, repeating “our cultures are similar” is not the historical argument you think it is.
If you want to bring up Lanna’s history under Burmese rule, at least look at the historical timeline first. Why does a costume that appears to resemble Burmese attire associated with a much later period show up in a drama set in an earlier historical period? Your argument about Burmese rule does absolutely nothing to answer that question.
And please, spare us the “It’s just a drama” or “Go watch a documentary” excuses. Being a fictional drama does not mean the costume team can ignore historical research. Nor does fiction mean people lose the right to question the use of clothing that bears a striking resemblance to another culture’s traditional attire.
If these costumes genuinely represent Lanna’s historical clothing, then explain the sources. Which historical records were used? Which period do these designs belong to? What references did the costume team actually research?
Myanmar people know our own history. Pointing out the historical periods and distinctive features of our traditional clothing does not mean we are trying to claim someone else’s culture. It means we know our own.
If you are so confident that these costumes were not borrowed from Burmese traditional attire, then provide historical evidence instead of repeating the same excuse to dismiss Myanmar people’s concerns.
Historical connections do not give anyone the right to redefine another culture’s heritage however they please. Learn to distinguish between historical influence and historical accuracy.

#ScarletHeartTH I accept that Shan,TaiYai similarities n this isn't Lanna dress. It's #Myanmar culture, even the candle dance, props. Why does it feature in the drama, there's no mention of Burmese people? Why is it appropriating n stealing other country's culture? @GMMTV
Even in the MAMA behind-the-scenes videos, he barely reacts, even when the others are cheering and shouting happily. He doesn’t seem as happy as the others. 🤷🏼♀️
