If given the choice between large State with closed borders and generous handouts, or small state with open borders and no handouts, I'd choose the later every day. Immigrants from anywhere, so long as they get no handouts and are not permitted to violate private property, are little threat to anyone. And the immigrant that violates property is no worse than the citizen who does the same. In America, it's white citizens in DC who do the vast majority of the looting, and who cause the vast majority of harm to the country and its people. Because the scale of the State is so large, it necessarily invites special interest groups of all manner to organize and struggle for benefits. The danger of these factions over time, which the Founders wrote about explicitly, grows in proportion to state size. Identity politics (just a more contemporary name for such factions), which is wholly disintegrating any national concept of the people of America, is less a consequence of immigrants than of the game theory of an ever-growing state that dishes out loot to whomever demands it. Property prices in and around DC is a much more damning indictment of modern America than any perceived border issue. It is not the barbarians at the gates but the kleptocrats within which most endangers this country. If you want to deport people, start with Nancy Pelosi.

This is what France needs. The autists to go ultra instinct and stand up. This photo deserves a Pulitzer. The autism shield says “Not today, villains.” He’s channeling his inner Goku. Iconic photo.

Hot take: this isn’t a bad thing
BREAKING: The top 0.1% of Americans now hold more than six times as much wealth as the entire bottom half of the country. The top 0.1% control about $28 trillion, roughly 15% of all U.S. wealth. The bottom 50% hold about 2.5%.

People need to realize that necessary items get priced and consumer willingness to spend… which is all remaining money
FLORIDA MIGHT BE THE BIGGEST FINANCIAL TRAP IN AMERICA… Moved here thinking I was escaping expensive states. No state income tax. Lower cost of living. Sunshine year round. Everyone made it sound like I’d finally get to keep more of my paycheck. Then came the homeowners insurance renewal. Then the property taxes. Then the HOA fees. Then car insurance, groceries, utilities, rent, and every other expense that somehow costs more than expected. You save money on state income taxes, but one insurance renewal can wipe out a huge chunk of those savings. And if you own a house, the property taxes and HOA fees never stop coming. At this point, Florida isn’t “cheap.” It’s just an expensive state with better marketing. PEOPLE KEEP BRAGGING ABOUT NO STATE INCOME TAX, BUT HOW MUCH MONEY ARE YOU ACTUALLY KEEPING? 🤨

One of the stats from @BrokenCountry_ is that Canada has some of the highest taxes in the world but also that our highest tax bracket kicks in at the lowest point in the world. Our top income tax kicks in at 2.7x the average wage. The only two countries where there the top tax bracket is higher are France and Japan but they define a rich person as someone who makes 14x and 9x the average wage respectively. We are getting robbed.
If Canada was serious about attracting the best people we would dramatically lower income taxes -- Our highest tax bracket kicks in rather quickly, & then you pay half your money to the govt Latest immigration push is not about attracting top talent. It's cheaper labour

True
Under Biden, the highest inflation in any one calendar year was 7% in 2021. The seeds for that high inflation were sown under Trump in 2020. Annual inflation then fell every year under Biden. It will rise every year under Trump. Both 2027 and 2028 will likely see gains above 7%.

setting a call up for 10am PDT/5pm UTC, 16 Oct to discuss the next steps of the fork. we've got a lot of work to do. luma.com/gejm3v7b
The new owner of farcaster, @balajis, has banned me from their side of the fork. Absolutely incredible work. So anyway, we're doing the hard fork of farcaster and would love to hear name ideas for our non-cancerous side. Spinning up an emergency group chat: t.me/+4eYOApUSw500Yzgx

That's the stupidest combination I ever heard in my life. The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage.

Exactly
Let me help some of you guys out.... 1. 40% of homes are owned free and clear (no mortgage). Not distressed sellers so can be patient, wait around, hold firm on price, etc 2. Average homeowner who has a mortgage has 55% equity. Again, not distressed or forced to sell 3. You need to zoom WAY OUT to better understand inventory Example #1 New Listings for sale this week: 64,00 Same week in 2009: 280,000 Same week in 2010: 380,000 Same week in 2011: 349,000 Example #2 Currently there's 1.6M of active inventory on the market. In a normal market, there's 2.0M - 2.5M of active inventory on the market In the last RE crash, guess how much inventory was active on the market? 4.0M We got a LOT of inventory that would have to come online (assuming demand doesn't increase significantly) before you'll see major drops That is all

A perfect depiction of the decay that comes with a high velocity trash economy enabled by fiat money.

People always ask if there was only one lift I’d do, what would it be? This is it - slant board goblet squats. Literally a full body lift that is great for your knees and torches your core. If you’re not doing these, you should.
