Opposition to psychedelics was sparse in the 610 public comments submitted to FDA's docket.
One letter of opposition came from Ed Meese III, who served as U.S. Attorney General under President Reagan.
(Strangely, it's dated June 1st. FDA requested comments in July.)
Mostly Supportive, Somewhat Divided: Stakeholders Respond to FDA’s Psychedelics Docket
In July, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a request for comments associated with a Part 15 public hearing it hosted on the topic of psychedelics.
That docket was open through October 5th, though it has taken some time for comments to be posted to Regulations.gov. At the time of writing, however, all comments appear to have been made available, and so we share our analysis.
Here, we first provide a meta-analysis of the 610 comments before delving into specific topics and points of contention that arose.

The VA launched a five-site psilocybin trial on August 5 for veterans with treatment-resistant depression.
It runs on COMP360, Compass Pathways' proprietary formulation, donated for the study. Compass is targeting a Q4 2026 approval application.
