Small business workers are moving more than any summer in recent memory — and that's a good sign. Our June MSHR (100K+ businesses, 2M+ employees) shows turnover jumped 8% month over month. Last June: 1.2%. 🧵
1/ Small businesses are gearing up for summer, but they're adding hours, not headcount. Our May Main Street Health Report (100K+ businesses, 2M+ hourly workers) shows employees working up just 0.2% in May, while hours worked rose 1.2%.
4/ Wages hit a new high, but raises keep thinning. Growth slowed to 5.9%, down from 7.1% a year ago.
5/ The takeaway: Main Street is busy but careful, stretching the teams it has before committing to new hires.
