Writers are a cog in a huge content marketing machine.
If you're late on an assignment, it throws off the whole schedule.
Deliver on time. If a due date doesn't work for you -- ask the client 2-3 weeks in advance if they have the flexibility to move it out. If not, make it work.

(Freelancers: this is why meeting deadlines and proactive communication are bigger competitive advantages than writing quality.)
