Today @Ghost crossed $10M ARR, as a bootstrapped non-profit foundation building open source software. Indie publisher revenue earned with Ghost now ~$130M, and accelerating. The world of technology is shifting rapidly, and so is the world of media, creators and journalism. It's hard to keep up with, and even harder to predict. My strong belief, though, is that open software that you own and control is going to be even more important and relevant in the future than it is now. So we're going to keep building it.

Seems like an apt week to RT
Two approaches to competition: Type 1. Zero sum — "competitors must be killed" Status games, shady tactics, delusions of grandeur, frat-bro hustle energy, always working an angle. Belief that the only way to win is if others lose. Type 2. Abundance — "a rising tide raises all ships" Long term thinking, open cooperation, shared resources, compounding interest, authenticity. Belief that the best way to win is to grow the market. Both approaches can be very successful, depending on whether you're more motivated by having friends or having enemies.

currently working on a PR for an external OSS project and the maintainer is communicating with me solely via his Claude - best OSS contribution experience I've had in a while tbh, super into it

had no idea - didn't expect the difference to be so big 🤯
I’m a little embarrassed to post this since everyone else probably already knew, but @adamwathan just told me about this command: 𝚍𝚎𝚏𝚊𝚞𝚕𝚝𝚜 -𝚌𝚞𝚛𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚝𝙷𝚘𝚜𝚝 𝚠𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚎 -𝚐 𝙰𝚙𝚙𝚕𝚎𝙵𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚂𝚖𝚘𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 -𝚒𝚗𝚝 0 Log out and back in. I've basically been living with a blurry film over my XDR display for years. 😭

Just tried this and it worked incredibly well 👌
Tell your agent: "mine all my conversations on disk and tell me how I work, what I'm good at, what I'm bad at, and how I can use AI better" You might (not) like the results!

I’m thinking about banning Claude code at Shopify until they change their mind and read AGENTS.md and .agents/skills etc. Insisting on only reading CLAUDE.md sometimes leads to split brain problems when different team members use different tools. Just unnecessary.

My theory is that the GTA6 leak is intentional and this is what they meant when they said they had some very creative marketing planned

I’m mostly distracted by fuckboys who read your book and send me 100 “worth a quick chat?” cold emails every week
Your goals will become easier to accomplish when you become harder to distract.

Going to need a batch of “DHH was right” shirts at this rate tbh
We bought 19 PB of flash storage for our AWS S3 exit in 2025 for about $1.5m. The list price for this setup today would be $19 MILLION 🤑. Don't know if I've ever timed a trade this well in my life. world.hey.com/dhh/it-s-five-…

as a tree, that has gotta feel amazing
A really cool video of how they harvest cherries from a massively loaded cherry tree. It seems to stand back up tall after the load of fruit is removed from the branches. That is pretty cool. 😎 xitter.cf/nunaambon/status/20863…

EU just absolutely undefeated at regulating its economy into the fucking ground, nobody else comes close Can’t wait for next year’s report identifying “package waste compliance consultancy services” as one of the fastest growing new sectors
From 12th August, new EU packaging rules mean that as soon as you sell and ship a physical product in an envelope or box, you may become responsible for the packaging waste in the country it ships to. To comply with PPWR/EPR rules, businesses may need to register and pay packaging/EPR fees in each individual country they sell into — even if they only send one package a year. And the costs vary by country. Examples being shared: France: €80/year Germany: €15/year Poland: €100–200/year Spain: €200–400/year There are 27 EU countries, so for a small business selling across Europe this can quickly become a significant administrative and financial burden. And apparently this isn’t just aimed at huge corporations. In some countries there are no meaningful small-business exemptions: registration, annual fees, reporting and long-term record keeping can still apply even at very low sales volumes. For micro businesses like mine, this potentially means having to make difficult decisions about which EU countries it is economically viable to ship to. The EU is supposed to make cross-border trade easier. For small independent brands, this feels like it could do exactly the opposite.
