Marcus Townend Fundraiser About Marcus After time with local newspapers and the Sporting Life, he worked for the Daily Mail for 35 years, graduating to becoming its racing editor and correspondent – a diligent, principled, talented and tenacious journalist. Marcus's accident It is nearly a year since Marcus fell off his bike and suffered the first of three bleeds in his brain. Three months later, he had gradually recovered well enough from the first two to spend a month at home. The third bleed, which occurred at the end of March, following a plate insertion to repair his skull, proved the most damaging, from which he is still recuperating. Too late, he was finally diagnosed in July to have mild haemophilia. Despite his amazing determination to communicate clearly, self care and mobilise, he will require ongoing neurophysiotherapy and much care from others to achieve his independent potential. How you can help? This year's HWPA Derby Awards Lunch (Monday 7th December) will be combined with a fundraiser for Marcus.. 1. Straight Donation - join the many simply donating... justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… 2. Join the Wall of Supporters for the lunch - not only can you attend the lunch (£140 per head) using the form below, you can also join the list of company logos/sponsors that will form the backdrop form.jotform.com/26262629171… 3. Book arrived today. Delighted to be asked to contribute and look forward to reading some cracking stories here. Apologies if the 1979 Lloret photo scares anyone! Excellent work @PaulJonesRacing

Kalpana with the number 1 draw while O’Brien’s Minnie Hauk gets stall 12 is not what Andrew Balding wanted to hear in the fillies race on Saturday.

He’s hardly a prolific winner but think Hawksbill could be a player in the big Ascot handicap tomorrow at 22/1. Travelled so well at Ayr last time.

It’s over 50 years since I first heard “Cat’s in the cradle” by Harry Chapin but have stumbled across it again lately. Forgotten just how good a song it is.

Our bogey team, Crystal Palace it is in the League Cup then. Haven’t lost to them since … ooh, let’s see. Must be getting on for nearly a fortnight. #ffc

Seems odd that the Portland on Saturday is virtually ignored by the bookies.

Completely dark here in London at 8-15 after a beautiful late summers day. Yet if memory serves they would have had Nat West 60 overs a side finals on this weekend in the past going on at this late. Must have been impossible on occasions.

By all accounts Silva was desperate to get Oscar Bobb in the door. If he still rates him he's more than welcome to bring him to to Benfica. #FFC

One more thought about that game. If a keeper (Sanchez) looks so vulnerable, why do the likes of Bobb, Kevin, Berge in particular, constantly turn down the chance to pepper their goal with shots? If you’re not going to have a pop tonight, when are you? #FFC

Do wonder if a manager/player ever takes Oscar Bobb aside to say “Honestly, it’s ok to shoot every once in a while”. #FFC

When in such a mess defensively just stop pissing around and hoof the ball as far away as possible. #FFC

Afternoon folks. Does anyone know where Billy Lee is tomorrow and Sunday? Can't seem to find any details of a suspension or that he's riding abroad.

Previous owners of High Fibre must be dreading to see how their former charge is blooming under James Owen.
