ALT Part 1/2 of a 7-panel SMBC comic update. A teenager looks sad and says that he feels burned out, as the looming silhouette of his father walks into the room. The father yells "YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHAT BURNOUT IS LIKE, KID?" As the teen starts to reply, the father adds "WELL YOU’RE CORRECT, it feels like a lack of power uncomfortably wedded to social expectation OF THE SORT THAT IS MOST PAINFUL AT YOUR AGE AND I AM SORRY ABOUT THAT!" The father then turns around and adds "TRY GETTING A JOB, KID! THEN YOU’LL REALLY KNOW BURNOUT BUT IT’LL BE TEMPERED BY PRIDE IN YOUR WORK AND HAVING AN ESTABLISHED POSITION IN YOUR COMMUNITY!"

ALT Part 2/2 of a 7-panel SMBC comic update. The dad then shouts "GROW UP! THEN YOU’LL KNOW THAT WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE I EXPERIENCED SIMILAR EMOTIONS, which I have not forgotten, and which inform the sympathy I currently feel for you!" The teen then says "this is nice but why are you shouting?" The father replies loudly that he got the teen concert tickets and he is practicing to be heard above the crowd. The last panel shows them both at a concert, why the dad saying "YOUR GENERATION CALLS THIS MUSIC?!" He then adds, before the teen can say much: "THEY ARE DESCRIBING IT ACCURATELY."

ALT 4-panel SMBC comic update. Two scientists are discussing a plan in a metal corridor. The first says "The problem with aligning superintelligence is that a sufficiently smart AI knows it’s being tested and only pretends to be good." The second scientist replies "wait! That IS the solution! If it behaves well whenever it knows it's being tested, we just have to keep it convinced that it's always in a test!" But scientists take a second to take in the idea, then the first says "Wow. We are creating god and threatening him with hell." The second replies saying "Really productive week."
