SF might have the most transportation options of any city in the US: rideshare / robotaxis: uber, lyft, waymo, zoox, nuro public transit: BART, metro, buses, cable cars, caltrain on the water: SF bay ferry, golden gate ferry, water taxis bikes / scooters: lime, spin, bay wheels walking (if you're willing to climb a hill)

record help doc videos automatically? never update them by hand again? count me in 🙋‍♂️ we’ve made recording videos pretty damn easy at @TellaHQ. but that’s not the problem anymore. i own our help docs, and there’s no way i can keep the videos current at the speed our team ships. UI changes and new features go out daily - no, hourly. so we’re building a new way to record: with agents. one use case: an agent reads the written steps in a help doc, follows them in the product, and turns that into a video. that gets us two things: 1. a video walkthrough for everyone reading our docs 2. an audit of the written docs. if an agent can’t follow the steps, a human probably can’t either would you use this?

Join @9ranty next Monday for an AMA about @TellaHQ Agent! Ask him how he's using Tella Agent to edit his videos, what prompts work well and what skills he uses! RSVP here: links.tella.com/agent-ama
The @TellaHQ agent edited this whole video. - cut down from 30 mins of footage - did all the transitions - made the fun intro effects - tidied up a bunch of the auto-zooms

as a new grad, i can wholeheartedly say that college taught me nothing about AI. sure it taught me fundamentals of CS, but the classroom looks nothing like how the industry is today. this is coming from a new grad who graduated from the #1 public university in silicon valley. in school AI had always been the thing that was frowned upon - but that’s the absolute opposite in the industry. i think higher-ed is scared but i do think there is a shift and they’re realizing that AI is the future so they either change or become extinct. everything that’s i’ve learned today has been learned directly in the workforce - working for startups and companies actually driving meaningful change. for those in college, new grads, or even folks in the industry out of touch with AI - my recs have always been to: 1. be on X - the latest news is always on here first 2. systems thinking - what is something you do on a daily basis that is repetitive? almost 100% of the time it’s some admin work that can be delighted to an AI Agent or Personal Agent 3. continuous experimentation - don’t stop experimenting with the new models that come out and push AI to the limited i’ve also heard my friends and other new grads say that the job market sucks - and it does, but things that i’ve noticed gen z not do in the workforce is: 1. demonstrate the care 2. act like an owner 3. willingness to learn something they know absolutely nothing about 4. go above and beyond i think that if you demonstrate those 4 things you can land a job. not just applying for a job on linkedin. but applying for a job on linkedin, tailoring your resume, message the recruiter, message the high manager. OR something i’ve done and love is to find a company that I love, that I believe can succeed, and can use then repeat those steps above. it tells a better story and is more authentic. anyway, i do have hope in the next generation. i was at @missionbit’s 10th Annual gala last night and the impact they’ve had on high schoolers in the city is going to change the game for the consistently underrepresented youth in the San Francisco Unified School District. they’ve taught over 15k students CS and AI since their founding in 2012. when CS blew up, the school district didn’t respond appropriately with educating youth about the power of tech - most likely got gentrified. but with AI giving a near clean slate, there is the opportunity to level the playing field if they try. despite this near clean slate they are still doing nothing. but Mission Bit has. they launched their Digital Innovation Academy - their state of the art curriculum taught inside SF high schools. guess what, apparently the school district pays for none of it 🤓 enough of my rant 😂 back to building ✌️
From a current CTO at a larger company hiring new grads, who I talked with about the state of college students: "Everyone says how new grads are 'AI-native' but we don't see this. They're usually not familiar with AI coding tools, have not used them much, and are much more familiar with the pre-AI way of building software. And many of those who did internships did it at 'traditional' companies where they also didn't use these tools."
