“VICE went woke”, “VICE used to be edgy”: Here are just a few of the reports I worked on in the past few years (including this year). In no particular order:

NEW: Starbucks founder Howard Schultz had a meltdown when questioned by the Senate about union-busting. Then he sought revenge.
Multiple workers were fired, including the founder of @SBWorkersUnited. The company also disciplined workers who dared to speak to Schultz in public.

It’s unbelievable that this has to be said but there is no requirement that a rape victim scream or call out for help or call the police right after the assault.
Replying to @innercitypress
Tacopina: You never screamed?
Carroll: I'm not a screamer.
Tacopina: You said that yesterday. You're being raped, but you didn't scream.
Carroll: You can't beat up on me for not screaming.
Tacopina: I'm not beating up on you.
Carroll: Some don't scream

I do not understand why it is so difficult for some people to understand that you cannot disentangle Tucker’s so-called populism from his expressed belief that the state must preserve the integrity of the white race.
"Effusively laudatory"=acknowledged that Tucker aired segments on neoliberal plunder, in addition to ball tanning. So fuckin over the lazy philistinism that immediately denounces as cryptofascist anyone who entertains the notion that right wing populism might have an appeal beyond "bigots be bigoting."

NY prosecutors right now are lobbying to severely limit “discovery reform.” A law simply requiring prosecutors to turn over all evidence to defense or risk dismissal. Their gripe: It’s too much work to collect, copy, & send it all to the defense. Consequences aren’t fair. Really.

If you’ve heard about Fox News’ record-breaking settlement with Dominion Voting Systems over the network’s election fraud lies, you probably don’t depend on the right-wing propaganda outlet for your information.

The bill lets 14-year-olds work 6-hour night shifts, 15-year-olds work on assembly lines, and 16- and 17-year-olds serve alcohol.
The Senate went through the night, and voted on child labor at 4:52 a.m.

interesting to note that clarence thomas is a stickler for administrative procedure when it comes to whether you’re allowed to challenge the state’s decision to kill you reuters.com/legal/government…
So, to be clear: Clarence Thomas, an originalist who says the plain text meaning of the constitution should guide policy making, and who’s role it is to interpret that meaning in a way that has seismic effect, is defending himself by saying he misinterpreted the disclosure forms?

THREAD. Today, New York Times published yet another piece about shoplifting planted by cops and business groups. The commitment of the NYT to fearmongering on shoplifting and to choosing not to cover wage theft, tax evasion, and more serious crimes is astonishing, and weird.

The essence of today’s conservative movement is victim shopping. Take a relationship unlike any in US history - a billionaire befriending a SCOTUS Justice after he was on the court & spending a fortune to gift Justice exotic vacations - and conclude conservatives are persecuted.
