Coming from a Washington fan. I don’t condone Romo getting a DUI but worst things have happened in the NFL that didn’t cost peoples job.
Romo was awesome on CBS IMO. He was polite with officers and a happy drunk vs an irate belligerent asshole we’ve seen with some others. 🤷♂️

Deebo Samuel scored an 80 yard receiving touchdown today.
He finished the game with zero catches.
Here is how that is possible.
First quarter, 8:40 on the clock, San Francisco backed up near its own 20. Brock Purdy threw a short pass to the left. Mike Evans caught it for 2 yards, turned, and pitched the ball backward to Samuel.
Hook and ladder. 80 yards. Touchdown.
Because the lateral came after the catch, the reception belongs to Evans and the yards belong to Samuel. So the box score says Deebo Samuel gained 80 receiving yards and scored a receiving touchdown on zero receptions. The stat accounts are calling it the most receiving yards anyone has ever had in a game without catching a pass.
Tracking data on the play has him covering 110.35 yards of actual ground to go 80, and hitting 20.39 miles per hour doing it.
He ran 30 extra yards sideways to get there.
His full afternoon: no catches, 80 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown, two carries, 14 rushing yards. 94 total yards.
And here is why that box score is almost funny.
Deebo Samuel has spent his entire career being impossible to file under a position.
His name is Tyshun Raequan Samuel Sr. He is from Inman, South Carolina, and his father started calling him Deebo as a kid after the character in the 1995 movie Friday.
He was a first team All American at South Carolina and the 49ers took him 36th overall in 2019.
Then in 2021, San Francisco started lining him up in the backfield like a running back, and the season that came out of it does not look like anybody else's. 77 catches. 1,405 receiving yards. Six receiving touchdowns. Then 59 carries, 365 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. Pro Bowl and first team All Pro.
Nobody knew what to call it, so he named it himself. Wide back.
He owns the NFL record for rushing touchdowns by a wide receiver. He is the only wide receiver in league history with at least 20 receiving touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns.
Now look at what happened today. A man whose whole career is about not fitting the categories scored a touchdown that the categories cannot describe. Receiving yards with no reception. The sport had to split one play between two players because one column could not hold it.
There is one more layer. The 49ers traded him to the Washington Commanders in March 2025. He spent a season there. On August 1 this year he signed a one year deal to come back to San Francisco, and he said the reunion was just a matter of time.
The man who threw him the lateral was also new. Mike Evans spent 12 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and six of them ended in Pro Bowls before he signed with the 49ers this year.
So it was the guy who just got here pitching to the guy who just got back.
