An open letter to Brian Murphy, CEO of #HarperCollins
Re: #HCPonstrike @hcpunion
We’ll keep this brief. Pretty sure your inbox is overflowing these days.
We’ve both had the privilege of being longtime authors with HarperCollins. (1/6)
I do! I am open to queries for the foreseeable future.

When someone pointed it out to me it was so glaring, but the language was so automatic to me in the moment! People need reminding.
Someone graciously checked me on this, and I want to make a correction— my definition of under-represented voices extends to white or white appearing under-represented authors, of which there are many. BiPoc would probably have been the better term to use here. My apologies!
Replying to @johnmcusick
As always, I want fiction (adult, YA, kidlit) from under-represented voices. That means non-white, queer, disabled and neurodiverse. And I want the story *you* want to tell. That's burning for *you*.
It's definitely worth a look. It's not a bad show! It's just a funny mashup that highlights a (now absent) cool element of the original concept, methinks.
So, we watched the first ep of Wednesday, and while I think the cast is stellar, it feels odd to see the Addamses among other "weirdoes." I think they work better juxtaposed against normie suburbia.
I do! I represent authors living all over the world.

It depends on the genre. For fantasy, north of 100,000 words is okay. For contemporary realistic, I'd recommend south of 80,000, but it varies!
For the kids in the back, I am reopening to queries DECEMBER 1st!
I'm actively seeking YA, MG, and crossover authors. Sub guidelines and extended wishlist are here: publishersmarketplace.com/me…

I think of Richard K Morgan as sci-fi and fantasy, so definitely a yes there. I'm less a fit for straight contemporary fiction aimed at adults.
