one finding that comes up again and again in surveys is that people name family as one of the biggest sources of happiness and meaning in their lives

i have seen enough proof now that using a coding agent is a deep skill it's confusing because the people you see heavily using them produce horrible results but that's because it's a skill! you can get better and the ceiling seems pretty high - this is very exciting to me

Today we are learning something: No one in DeFi knows the difference between slippage and price impact.

If you're not using voice transcription as the primary way to chat to coding agents, you really should. I wildly underestimated how much more productive (and enjoyable) it would be compared to typing.

This has been said a thousand times before, but allow me to add my own voice: the era of humans writing code is over. Disturbing for those of us who identify as SWEs, but no less true. That's not to say SWEs don't have work to do, but writing syntax directly is not it.

'onchain' only permissions (current direction of erc7715 implementation i'm seeing) are practically useless -- please speak with your users more

Since Claude 4 launch: SWE friend told me he cleared his backlog for the first time ever, another friend shipped a month's worth of side project work in the past 5 days, and my DMs are full of similar stories. I think it's undebatable that devs are moving at a different speed now. You can almost feel it in the air that this pace is becoming the default norm.

most people worry way too much about being first or worse, worry about being copied. like, what if someone launches before you? what if they copy your idea? doesn’t matter. if what you’re building is just the idea, you’re already screwed. what actually matters is building the factory, a system that consistently produces & improves… you should be in the business of creating the process that makes product(s) functional & sustainable. so what the fuck do you do (esp when it’s easier than ever to rip off anyone with ai)? i wrote a quick post about this.
What if someone launches your idea before you?

americans treat optionality like a virtue when it’s actually a pathology. ppl optimize for keeping doors open indefinitely, never committing, never locking in, because they conflate flexibility with freedom. but optionality is not freedom, it’s just deferred responsibility. eventually, optionality maximization leads to a life of passive consumption & regret. because at some point, the best options close, & you’re left with nothing but the things you never fully chose.
