A secret CIA contract with Steve Jobs in the late 1980s may have saved his career and laid the foundation for Apple's success in subsequent decades, according to journalist Sharon Weinberger. She confirmed the long-rumored relationship for her new book "Valley of Death: How Big Tech Is Fueling the Future of War," which details the history of Silicon Valley's entanglement with the U.S. national security apparatus. After Jobs was forced out of Apple in the mid-1980s, he founded a new computer company called NeXT that was struggling to find a market for its expensive machines. That's when the CIA placed a major order with NeXT that effectively saved the company and bought Jobs enough time to mount a successful comeback to Apple in 1996. "The operating system from NeXT became the operating system for modern Apple products," says Weinberger. "So the argument I would hear from people both inside that company and inside the intelligence community was the CIA effectively saved Jobs and saved Apple."

A fair question: How did humanity allow Gaza to happen? And the answer is not just about Israel, but also about the role of the US in particular in providing the 2,000-pound bombs and diplomatic support that resulted in this. Democrats and Republicans alike bear responsibility.

Now the Trump administration has approved a $2.8 billion sale of 40,000 more, and American military aid helps pay for Israel’s weapons. These bombs have turned Gaza into a graveyard. Neighborhoods and towns have become mass graves, and homes have been reduced to rubble. A generation of Palestinian children lies beneath them. 22,000 Palestinian children have been killed, and children are still dying. Every American taxpayer is paying for the genocide in Palestine. SO, every American has a duty to demand that it end, and to keep demanding it until it does.
