Champagne corks are popping all over Moscow 🍾🥂
🚨 BREAKING: Trump's DOJ just killed its elite anti-corruption unit, our sources say. The Kleptocracy Initiative - famous for seizing Russian oligarchs' yachts and prosecuting the $4.5B 1MDB fraud - was quietly disbanded last night.

What russians are doing seems like a deliberate massive demonstrative campaign of killing Ukrainian PoWs. Five more Ukrainian soldiers executed in Donbas. @UN @amnesty @hrw #RussianWarCrimes #UkraineRussiaWar #StandWithUkraine

Just a reminder of how long it took Ukraine to receive weapons: First howitzer cannons? In 3 months. First HIMARS? In 4 months. First Western tanks? In 1 year. First Patriot defense system? In 1 year and 2 months. First ATACMS? In 1.5 years. First F-16s? In 2.5 years. 1/n

Russia launched the $10 million intercontinental ballistic missile at Dnipro, fired from a site near Kapustin Yar in Astrakhan Oblast, according to defense expert Fabian Hoffmann. Here's what life there looks like. (1/5)

I remember those mobile crematoria. At the time I thought they were for Russian soldiers KIA. It’s beyond frightening to think they were for mass extermination of the Ukrainian civilian population. And to think there are people who want to settle with Russia”and hand over parts of Ukraine. Horrible
Ukraine’s Intelligence Chief confirms Russia's pre-invasion plan aimed at genocide in Ukraine, including kill lists, mobile crematoria, and mass graves. Targets included teachers, veterans, journalists, clergy, and public figures. "Genocide is a state policy of the Russian Federation," said Budanov, calling it a systematic conviction enforced from the top.

Genuine question: What other nations/people are treated this way? A game from a Ukrainian studio, made by Ukrainians, about Ukraine (yes, Chernobyl is in Ukraine) has a box of matches with a cartoonish kozak and blue and yellow, and a field... of poppies. Westoid journalist: Ukrainian nationalism assault 😱 Have you ever seen a Japanese game with a kimono somewhere and a rising sun imagery making people go... Japanese Nationalism 😩🙌 Cause I haven't. It's called traditional culture and symbolism. I am tired you all...
In Ukraine, we're not allowed to be Ukrainian by some Western dipshits. They label simple things like having flags on matchboxes (which is a real brand, by the way) and *drum roll*. .. poppy fields! as nasty "nationalism."

To those with short memories: Between 2014 and 2022, Ukraine held about 200 rounds of talks with Russia. During this period, 20 cease-fire agreements were reached, all of which were quickly violated by Russia. None of the 200 rounds of talks or the 20 ceasefires have prevented Putin from launching a brutal all-out invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, 2022. Those who argue that Ukraine should negotiate with Russia now are either uninformed or misled, or they side with Russia and want Putin to take a pause before an even larger aggression. We should not and will not fall into this trap.

If Russia takes all of Ukraine, they’ll execute thousands, conscript the rest, and gear up for their inevitable war on Europe—because Europe, so far, is failing to uproot Russia’s lobby. So no, strengthening Ukraine isn’t “escalation” towards WW3—it’s the only way to prevent it.

Faced with such terror, Germany would not fight back. Most Germans would run or hide; our institutions would negotiate surrender, insisting there was no other option. The instinct to obey power and keep one’s head down in times of trouble has, shall we say, a history in this country and is deeply ingrained. This is part of what drives many Germans’ ambivalence, from some even hostility, toward Ukraine’s brave resistance. Many of our people wouldn’t fight for their own freedom, much less for anyone else’s. They can’t fathom Ukrainians’ action and sacrifices in the face of literal death. Ukraine’s courage is an affront to their natural cowardice and willingness to appease the powerful, which they wouldn’t call cowardice or appeasement but rather ‘prudence’ (‘Besonnenheit’). A minority of Germans would fight. They wouldn’t be enough. The only thing that might save Germany in face of an attack like Ukraine has faced would be our allies, if they stood with us — fought for us — quickly enough. Germany’s freedom ultimately relies on us having allies more courageous and reliable than ourselves.
Imagine your country is exposed to this level of terror. You wouldn’t negotiate with the terrorists from this neighboring country. You would fight back. Freedom is not negotiable. Freedom is not for free. And you are just curtailing your own freedom if you expect any other country should accept this.

A frame from a phone video where a soldier, a former teacher in kindergarten, Natalia Grabarchuk, shoots to stop a Russian missile, puts the installation, which is still smoking, on the ground, and prays. Another Russian rocket will not hit a hospital or a kindergarten. For me, this is an iconic shot. She did not pose. Today Russia sent 120 rockets and 90 drones to destroy civil infrastructure in Ukraine.

The only thing that Scholz’s call to Putin achieved was letting Russia feel less isolated and more respected while it was launching a massive missile attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to freeze civilians to death this winter. Thank you, @Bundeskanzler.

I said it before. For Germany it's always about the money. Ukrainian children dying, Ukrainian women being raped - not a problem as long as Germany can prosper (even if Germany also prospered by creating the conditions that led to the murders of children and rapes of women).

Scholz: "Germany's Ukraine support must not come at the cost of our country's future prosperity" Considering the part Germany played in financing Russia's rearmament program for the past 2 decades, maybe it should.
