It’s strange how so many of these people with crippling and often self-diagnosed ADHD also have pronouns in their bio.
If you are trying to make the argument that as a cohort your generation isn’t a bit weird and should be looked after a bit better in the jobs market then having a collective meltdown at the suggestion to finish your coffee ahead of an interview isn’t helpful.
I’ve worked with quite a lot of people over the decades. Thousands, probably.

Did none of them have ADHD, or does it not actually stop you being able to turn up on time?
My wife and I bought each other silver rings for our engagement from a jeweller in TriBeCa in Manhattan. They were, I think, about $60 each.
We both still treasure what they represented.
A guy in our circle makes a good living. He's been dating a girl for three years, and she expects a $15,000 engagement ring. He told her he’s only comfortable spending $4,000 because they want to buy a house soon.
She told him that settling for a cheaper ring means he doesn't value her, and she’d rather wait another year to get engaged until he can "afford it."
Are engagement rings the ultimate financial scam, or is he being cheap with the one piece of jewelry she has to wear forever?
I don’t really understand the thinking here.
Surely the only acceptable choices are that he takes his daughter into the men’s toilet with him, or sends her into the women’s while he waits outside.
Are there really many people who think he should be allowed to go into the women’s?
Academic economists are not particularly well regarded in banking. Some are great, most are not. The below is the sort of muddled thinking combined with utter ignorance of the markets that gets them this reputation.

I've attended most Notting Hill Carnivals since 1981, when Musical Youth were the headliners. I'll be going again this year. I've often taken my children along.
To deal with the narratives: yes, Carnival does experience a lot of violence. But the scale of the thing is so vast that most attendees will never witness any. In all my years of attending, I've witnessed two teenage gang beatings, quickly broken up by undercover cops. I've also seen women who have clearly been spiked - thankfully, other women intervened to protect them.
If it wasn't for the huge policing operation, including metal detectors on all entrances, the violence would doubtless be worse. But remember that this is a huge festival, with around a million attendees over two days.
So yes, it's a wonderful thing, and no it isn't free from violence. May it long continue, and let's hope that no lives are lost this year.

This is a policy that’s been floated a few times before, in the UK and elsewhere, and doesn’t seem unreasonable enough to provoke the back-lash it’s getting on here.
The proposal seems to be that unless unwell or disabled you will be required, after a year’s unemployment on benefits, to do twenty hours per week of community work or to come off benefits.
The details will matter, and I suspect it’ll prove to difficult to ever amount to much, but is the principle really so wrong?
It seems it’s not only in academia that you can be semi-literate yet still hold down a career normally only open to those both intelligent and educated.
