One of the simplest principles of software development is > Things that should change together should be together For example, this means that your routes should be defined in the same file as your handler, and your validations/schema should be there too.

This has a ring of truth to it, if you've lived through enough of these moments.
Imagine you're joining a new role and see something that makes you go "wtaf did they think when they did this?!" - what's the first thing you do? If your answer is "change it," then chances are you're wrong. To explain why, let's visit a fence, a deviance and a window.

ChatGPT really hammers home the point that reading code is a far more important skill than writing it. It's like having a deranged, wildly enthusiastic junior engineer who will work around the the clock for you, if only you have the skill and patience to guide it.

This is worth internalising, and happens at almost all levels. Pay attention to the part about looking at the track record.
Charlie Munger and Warren Buffet on projections about the future: "it is total nonsense" "a projection prepared by anybody trying to justify a course of action will be a lie. It's not a deliberate lie; the man has gotten to believe it himself, the worst kind of lie"

Interesting take on frameworks in general, and worth keeping in mind when doing convention-over-configuration in your projects.
the reason I dislike Rails so much is you have to know so much of it to be effective in small tasks it's designed for people with cognitive capacity to spare for all that "convention over configuration" junk. they refuse to write it down so you have to keep it in your head. yuck
