Boiling the water left over from processing the Balsamo oil this morning . We will bottle it up and repurposed it. It can be used in making soap and shampoos or other purposes such as preserving wood. Nothing goes to waste here at Chicuinaco. Growing in El Salvador 🇸🇻 – at Teotepeque, El Salvador
It’s a beautiful day for a farmers market at Club Cocal. Opens at 10 . @btcfarmersmrkt @ClubCocal
Prensa in action. Mining Salvadoran black gold, Balsamo oil 😁. Chicuinaco growing stronger in 🇸🇻 – at Teotepeque, El Salvador
Busy morning at Chicuinaco. They ground up the balsamo bark, boiled it and are now test running the press. El Salvador’s black gold will be available soon I hope. Just have to fine tune the press. Growing un El Salvador 🇸🇻

Some people have garden gnomes. At Chicuinaco we have garden vultures 🤣Sunning itself on my garden posts
Got the path to the dining patio done today. Little dirt work and we should be good. Definite improvement at Restaurante Chicuinaco
Afternoon at Chicuinaco is time for walking Alice the dog and checking the orchards, banana/platano trees, pumpkin/ ayote vines, and the tomato patch. Mandarins are coming along nicely, and soon we will have enough bananas to feed a barrel of monkeys. Growing in El Salvador 🇸🇻
Finished the fence on the garden expansion at Chicuinaco and started trellis work for our maracuya vines this morning. Warm work this morning. Still growing in El Salvador 🇸🇻

This morning’s workout was posting for the garden expansion at Chicuinaco. Current one is busting at the seams. No gym membership needed here. Next will be fence and bringing in black dirt once the river road is dry enough to drive on. Never stop growing beautiful El Salvador 🇸🇻 – at Teotepeque, El Salvador
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Throw the rinds and seeds in your mulch pile. I rescued 20+ sprouts today out of the mulch pile at Chicuinaco. Once they grow a bit they will be for sale or moved to the orchard here. We keep growing things in beautiful El Salvador 🇸🇻
A better photo of the amazing craftsmanship on this handwoven rope/cable basking that will be used for squeezing balsamo oil in the Prensa. Can’t wait to see it used soon
Today they are weaving the basket for pressing bálsamo oil. All hand woven with rope and wire cable. So happy we can keep this traditional process going at Chicuinaco. Hope to start processing the oil in a couple weeks. Never stop growing in El Salvador 🇸🇻
Worked on upgrading our path to the dining patio at Restaurante Chicuinaco today. We had been using a path of indoor/outdoor carpet, but it was in sad shape. Old carpet will be cut up to make weed mats for our fruit tree seedlings. Never stop building or growing in El Salvador🇸🇻 – at Teotepeque, El Salvador
More of this, please. Encourage their creativity and dreams.
