What happens when the STAC catalog your pipeline depends on goes down? That question led me to build SuperSTAC. Many catalogs. One search. Higher reliability. v0.2 is out, now with Python bindings 🦀🐍 spatialnode.com/superstac #STAC #Geospatial

Exactly! Nigerian Space Agency - NASRDA, National Population Commission and many other Geospatial Agencies supported the process. It is led by NIPOST but it is by Nigerians for Nigerians. And the satellite you are asking about @amainyebriggs , Nigeria is in the process of launching 3new Optical satellites, one Synthetic Aperture Radar and 2 communication satellites. While that is ongoing, we have existing data sharing partnership with over 400 constellations that we use. We offered our own images to others before the lifecycle of the six satellites we had previously launched elapsed so it is nothing new in the space sector to share data. For example, NigeriaSat-1 provided the first images during hurricane Katrina in the USA. Nigeria is working. The geospatial ecosystem is working.
That’s a very fair point @amainyebriggs. And yes, mapping Nigeria at this scale, particularly in areas with informal settlements and limited formal records was a significant technical undertaking. It may interest you to know that NIPOST, in partnership with relevant government agencies and technical partners, deployed a number of these mapping and data-capture approaches during delineation and validation phases of the Digital Postcode project. Satellite and aerial imagery, geospatial data and field verification all have roles to play in building a reliable national location database. That said, this is not a one stop exercise. Location data evolves, buildings change, new settlements emerge, and the system must continuously improve with them. And that's where the uniqueness of the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode come in handy. The work of validating, updating and expanding the National Digital Postcode system remains an ongoing process. We genuinely appreciate you looking at the technology behind the postcode. Feedback like this helps keep the conversation focused on how we can make the system even better.

Yes, yes. Every Nigerian would experience the power and possibilities of geospatial via postcode. GIS would never be perceived as abstract again 🚀🚀
For those that studied GIS in Nigeria. You now have a new way to explain what you studied to your family/friends. You can now tell them we are the ones that do the "postcode". #GIS

From data to insight, and from insight to impact. 🌍 OEA Consults was pleased to participate in the @Esri User Conference West Africa 2026, held in Accra, Ghana, and hosted by @sambusgeo . Under the theme “Connecting Data, Creating Value: Building West Africa’s Geospatial Ecosystem,” the conference brought together professionals and organisations working to advance geospatial technology across the region. Our team gained valuable insights into GeoAI, satellite imagery, drone technology, Digital Twins, spatial data integration, and data-driven decision-making, while connecting with others across the geospatial community. We appreciate @sambusgeo for creating a platform for learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. At OEA Consults, we continue to leverage Geospatial Technologies and Data to deliver better insights, better decisions, and better outcomes. #OEAConsults #EsriUCWA2026 #SambusGeospatial #GIS #Geospatial #GeoAI

Just over a decade ago, NNPC Limited did not have an official presence on social media. A group managing director who had just taken office wanted to know what Nigerians were saying about the company on social media and wondered why this was not part of the communications strategy of the company. I was not in the room when this conversation was happening, but I believe that the prior years I had spent building a personal brand identity that was heavily focused on social media usage in Nigeria paid off. Someone in the room remembered, and that was how, in the twinkling of an eye, I got a redeployment from my role as an HSE planner to a brand-new role that never existed. This new role, Technical Assistant, Special Projects (New Media), was created just for me, and the rest is history. I remember the first face-to-face, almost like an informal interview, that I had with the Group Managing Director, where he goes, “Are you the social media person that I was told about? So, what can you do for us?” I answered without batting an eyelid, “Sir, you are the one that will do the work. My role is to tell Nigerians that you have done the work using social media as a communications channel.” I performed excellently in that role and went on to occupy similar positions in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nigeria, where I worked as a media advisor to two cabinet ministers over a 4-year period. Fast forward to the PIA 2021 era, the company restructured, and my current role was now established. I remember getting a call from the then Chief Corporate Communication Officer, who pitched to me why that was a fitting role for me considering the achievements over time. I am excited that the accounts set up over a decade ago have since grown in combined followership to over 0.0016 billion, with a combined average annual positive impression count of over 0.05 billion. #PoweredByHer #HumansOfNNPC

Some months ago I posted about getting NEV from China. Today I’m sharing the full experience of buying a car (an XPeng G6) directly from China to Nigeria - sight unseen, no middlemen. Two friends used the same playbook and successfully got their own cars. I’m open-sourcing everything I learned in case it helps someone else. blog.openculture.org.ng/play…
I am currently active in the Chinese EV market and have been for a while. I would like to share some lessons I have learned to help anyone interested in importing cars from China. I am typing this in real time, so this will likely be a long thread. 🧵
