Sco-Cen is the closest stellar nursery (~150 pc), typically divided into 3 clusters (Upper-Sco, UCL, and LCC). Sigma finds 37. We compare our results to the @ESAGaia post-DR2 literature, but we might miss someone, let us know.

The SigMA algorithm outperforms HDBSCAN, distinguishing clusters with velocity differences down to about 0.5 km/s and cluster volume densities as low as 0.01 sources/pc^3. An application to Sco-Cen reveals about 13000 young sources arranged in 37 clusters.

@SRatzenbock from @univienna @dsUniVie new clustering method "Significance Mode Analysis" (SigMA) to extract co-spatial and co-moving stellar populations from large-scale surveys, like @ESAGaia (in 5D), is on astroph (not yet accepted, comments welcome). arxiv.org/abs/2211.14225
Want to join a research team that will measure the 3D motion of the Local Interstellar Medium for the first time? Understand our path through the Galaxy? Last week to apply for a @ERC_Research 5-year PostDoc position at @univienna jobregister.aas.org/ad/383ef…
One can appreciate Josefa's main result in Fig 10 (interactive) by sliding back and forth in time (link to interactive Fig in the caption). This result would not have been possible without the ridiculous precision of @ESAGaia @univienna @oeaw

Even after 10 years, I still have a hard time believing this is my commute to work @univienna #ViennaObservatory

A quick look 30 min after the data release (by Josefa Großschedl, below) suggests we will be able to (finally) measure the distance between NGC1980 and the ONC (and the consequences of it). Place your bet: A) ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/20… or B) ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/20…
Orion A cloud young stars in Gaia DR2 and Gaia EDR3. Flip between the two, and cry... Thank you @ESAGaia #GaiaDPAC, and the 400 scientists in Europe that make this mission a dream come true ♥️#ViennaObservatory @univienna Josefa was right! ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/20…
Who knew Austrian science would go so well with Austrian music?

Like ships in the night, different stellar populations meet and cohabit the same volume of the Galaxy and then drift apart. We estimate that this cohabitation phase lasts for tens of Myr, and takes place on average once per Galactic revolution. arxiv.org/abs/1902.07216
Here it is, crossing the Southern Galactic hemisphere arxiv.org/abs/1901.06387
Great job by Stefan Meingast and Verena Fürnkranz at @univienna on arxiv.org/abs/1901.06387 using @ESAGaia data! Stay tuned, more is coming...
Discovery of a stellar stream (or two?) at only 100 parsec from the Sun containing at least 4000 coeval stars (born 1 Giga yrs ago) with @ESAGaia. The stream covers ~120 deg of the Sky. We have been looking at it/through it for ages without recognizing it. arxiv.org/abs/1901.06387
The tidal tails of the Hyades. The models seem to be ok, for once. :-) Gaia is on track to challenge our previous views of clusters and stellar associations. Stefan Meingast did an outstanding job, again. arxiv.org/abs/1811.04931 @ESAGaia @Jos_de_Bruijne @univienna
