Los Angeles: Decriminalizing low-level offenses could reduce police interactions... if the police agrees & act accordingly. Which they often don't. In LA, the number of Black people arrested over marijuana increased the year after weed was legalized. xtown.la/2020/07/08/after-po…

Glad to see the New York Public Library following the lead of The Watertown Free Public Library @WatertownPubLib
Roar! 🦁 NY Public Library lovers, we’ve got GREAT news: Late fees are a thing of the past! Any late fees you’ve owed are gone, and you’ll never get another one again. If you’ve lost or damaged a book, just chip in the replacement fee and get back to borrowing. Happy reading!📚

Excellent reports & infographics from @AIRInforms re: their national survey on how public schools adapted to COVID-19. This kind of comparison is critical to understand different choices communities made & help anticipate the future of schooling. bit.ly/3lAnsVZ

I guess I'm just going to have to retweet myself on this one.
Was v. surprised by today's Inquirer story about SDP plans to push start times earlier next year, for some high schools by 2 hours! Last yr, I helped put out data that might help folks figure out what any changes mean for them, using SEPTA schedules & kid addresses in 2018.

Here you get the amount for your community. You can print it or make a PDF or email it. You can send it to those in power, rather than waiting for those in power to tell you how much money will be available (possibly after insiders have already decided how to spend it).

Bringing #equity into #opendata means thinking more critically about who the data is open for and what they need to use it.
