OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT | FROM THE OWNERS
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Myles Anderson as First Team Player-Manager and Adrian Whitbread as Assistant Manager of AFC Welwyn.
As owners, we have always been ambitious about where we want to take this football club. We are building something special at AFC Welwyn, and these appointments represent another important step in our journey.
Myles brings passion, determination and leadership, and we are confident his appointment as Player-Manager will help drive the standards and mentality we want throughout the club. Alongside him, Adrian brings valuable experience, knowledge and a wealth of football expertise that will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals.
Together, they have the qualities to build a competitive, exciting and successful team that reflects the identity and ambition of AFC Welwyn.
Our vision has always extended beyond results on the pitch. We want to build a football club that our supporters, players and local community can be proud of — a club with genuine ambition, a strong identity and a clear pathway for long-term success.
We are fully committed to supporting Myles and Adrian, both on and off the pitch, and providing them with the foundations they need to take this club forward.
This is an exciting new chapter for AFC Welwyn, and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.
We would also like to thank our supporters for their continued backing. Your support is central to everything we are trying to build, and we hope you will join us in giving Myles and Adrian a fantastic welcome.

A poor result yesterday for @AFC_Welwyn away @Redbourn_FC in the Gladwish Challenge Trophy
We just didn’t seem to match the intensity of the home side. First half we were too deep and didn’t get the ball forward quick enough. Completely different second half and we literally could have had another 5 or 6, was unbelievable the amount of chances we made. But unfortunately when your keeper makes two big errors (and I don’t want to focus too much on that as he’s normally very good) you’re always going to struggle.
But, the new manager managed to get minutes into players who haven’t played as much and also got to look at a couple of new players.
Not much to report on from a media point of view. Will get back to pre and post match interviews with the new manager. Used a new graphic for the starting XI but then realised it’s the old badge 🫣 will look to work on a few others over the next few weeks
Quick visit to IKEA before getting involved with some light media duties and ongoing volunteering for the mighty @AFC_Welwyn

A significant week off the pitch at @AFC_Welwyn, with the club confirming that First Team Manager Scott Patmore had resigned from his position.
Assistant Manager Myles Anderson stepped up on an interim basis with immediate effect, and he made the perfect start — overseeing a 2-1 away win at Sawbridgeworth on Tuesday, with goals from Samuel Adetiba and Courtney Massay.
Anderson was full of praise for his squad afterwards, calling it a super impressive performance and highlighting a last-ditch tackle from one of his players that encapsulated the team's spirit.
The club's owners also moved quickly to reassure supporters, acknowledging the importance of stability and communication as the Romans look to move forward.

On a separate note, how embarrassing are @everettrovers , there was another tackle in there that was late, someone on the coaching team throwing a water bottle at a @ColneyHeathFC player. The first lad to get sent off, holding your face when no one’s touched your face just to try and avoid getting sent off for your own late tackle. Absolutely embarrassing

Unfortunately we ended up on the end of a 3-0 loss. Wouldn’t necessarily say it was a 3-0 game and it was always going to be a tough one today.
