Breaking: #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is out for Sunday due to a superficial blood clot.
Full statement from the #Eagles on QB Jalen Hurts:
“On Thursday, October 8th, Jalen visited the training room after practice requesting treatment for his calf. He informed the medical staff he had been cleated during the Rams game on October 4th. This was his first treatment session for the calf injury following the game, after having practiced in full both Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, Jalen received treatment, practiced in full, and was added to the practice report.
“Out of an abundance of caution, an ultrasound was performed on Saturday following the team’s flight to London and walkthrough. The ultrasound revealed a superficial blood clot. Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight to Philadelphia.
“Jalen played without limitation in the game Sunday, received treatment on Monday and Tuesday, and practiced in full on Wednesday, as reflected in the practice report. Throughout our time in London and this week, we have remained in communication with the league office regarding the matter.
"On Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday’s game vs. the Panthers as we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority.”
at the very least noteworthy that there seems to be a “situation” with hurts
I asked @RapSheet what the biggest offseason story will be.
He said the Jalen Hurts situation.
He explains on a great This Is Football:
fascinating is one way of putting it!
Phillies announce they’ve signed Don Mattingly to a two-year deal (so through ‘27 and ‘28), as @MattGelb and @charlottevarnes said they would. Fascinating decision for a team facing a fascinating offseason.
i am on my hands and knees begging for a lockout
Phillies expected to name Don Mattingly their manager this week. Story with @charlottevarnes: nytimes.com/athletic/7688238…
eagles 7th in special teams EPA. a unit playing really well that gave up a bad play in the worst moment. can't really fault sirianni too much there.
bring on the lockout
Don Mattingly appears to have a decent or better chance to be retained as Phillies manager. Went 79-55 to get into playoffs after taking over 9-19 team and has the respect of players and front office, as I said on @MLBNetwork
in this situation and how the play develops a qb should throw this every single time
there is no alternative here that helps your team
Trevor Lawrence vs. C0: Can't get the ball far enough in front of his target while trying to be the superhero. #Jaguars
Good game overall, but succumbed on this play to thinking his long blond hair came with a cape.
Common among athletic QBs with a good arm.

Just a reminder that a lot of advanced metrics and power ratings ignore special teams.
So does Sean McVay.
DVOA knows that special teams matter.
Watson still very bad lol
and yeah hurts didn’t have a great game. he hurt the eagles offense more than usual.
there's issues all over the place so that's obviously going to make things look worse but i thought hurts looked bad today. was more of a contributor to the offensive problems than previous games.
sirianni has always just be OK at managing games but obviously today was as bad as it gets. and it comes at a time when he really can't afford to do it.
feels like the beginning of the end for sirianni barring some crazy turnaround.
