Compliance rarely shows up in a demo. Our CEO @somenmondal joined Steve Smith on Rep Cap's Work Tech Weekly to talk audit trails, data deletion requests, and bias testing built for LLMs. #HRtech youtube.com/watch?v=xQcUTKFp…

Big News: Google will be launching SGE to everyone in the US this week and will be bringing it to more countries soon. Google believes that there has been positive user feedback – I've seen the opposite personally. This should be interesting. #GoogleIO

Two months ago, @ThisHouseFresh sounded the alarm about Google killing independent sites. I wrote an update on things I’ve learned and things that happened after publishing that article: housefresh.com/how-google-de… SPOILER: We have lost 91% of traffic from Google since then.

Challenge to the SEO community saying links don't matter: Disavow all links pointing to your site. I'll wait 😃

RIP Paul Auster. The quotes and tributes today feel like peaceful rest. There's a mood you get from a Paul Auster book that you can't find anywhere else. #PaulAuster

Boom: Core, HCU into core, and Spam -> You wanted a big update? Well, here's a BIG update. REALLY BIG. The March 2024 core update is rolling out, but it's more complex than previous core updates. Google said it will reduce unhelpful content in the SERPs by 40% and will use a variety of innovative signals and approaches to do so. It will take several weeks for the update to roll out, maybe even a month. *Multiple systems* within the core ranking system will be updated and released during the larger broad core update. Google explained there will be more volatility than with regular broad core updates. So yep, buckle up. :)

Google's SGE implementation is fluid, and this could change tomorrow. That said, some good data here by industry (and SGE "states" like collapsed, opt-in, and none) -> Analysis of 1B queries across 9 industries reveals healthcare is most impacted by SGE and 4 SGE features you need to know searchengineland.com/google-…

Remembering those moments from Star Trek TNG when nothing was going on 'cept floatin' and chillin' in space, sipping on tea or intergalactic spirits, gettin' all deep in the captain's quarters, him in one of his philosophical moods, staring out at the stars. Ah, Sunday night.

And here is Google's blog post about Gemini. If you're in Search, drop everything and read all of this NOW. :) "We’re already starting to experiment with Gemini in Search, where it's making our Search Generative Experience (SGE) faster for users, with a 40% reduction in latency in English in the U.S., alongside improvements in quality." blog.google/technology/ai/go…

Are Meta Descriptions still worth it in 2023? Increasingly, who knows • EXCELLENT descriptions can positively impact CTR but • Google is very good at rewriting them for user intent In the end, you can only test, like @SearchPilot "Does removing meta descriptions improve CTR?"

Using the "define:" query to get a definition quickly from Google, Brave, or DuckDuckGo is something I've done countless times over the years. But for a grammar comparison check, I don't think I've seen a govt site at the top for something like "lead vs led".
