Super excited to finally hold this in my hands! Fluid Mechanics 7th edition is now out! shop.elsevier.com/books/flui…
Here's a short piece I wrote for @Nature Chemical Engineering’s “By the Numbers” series: Small particles, big clusters. nature.com/articles/s44286-0…
Always a pleasure to listen to @stevenstrogatz wax poetic on math (or any subject really). These are some interesting times we are living in podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

Between the current shenanigans and the COVID-19 pandemic, I've learned that it's never a good sign when differential equations are in the news.
Anyone interested in running/visualizing OpenAI's "quirky vortex" that's been getting all this attention, my colleague Ivan Christov at Purdue put together this Python demo: github.com/ichristov/interme…
So I guess the AI agents get the million dollars?
We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics.
The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra.
The problem concerns whether the description of smooth three-dimensional fluid motion modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations can break down. It has remained unresolved for roughly 90 years.
Best writing advice I’ve come across: “When in doubt, have a man come through the door with a gun in his hand.” — Raymond Chandler
There are now more AI-generated videos and audio of Richard Feynman than genuine ones and that makes me sad

George RR Martin finally published again! Except this time in a physics journal with a Los Alamos scientist on “Ergodic Lagrangian Dynamics in a superhero universe” pubs.aip.org/aapt/ajp/articl…
First time jump starting a motorcycle. Luckily my son came to save me. The last scene I wrote in my WIP, my MC was having motorcycle trouble. “Write what you know” I guess.
Lots of good pieces here! Glad to see mine among them.
Excited to see my WIP: Birde & the Bomb selected as notable chapter in the Gutsy Novelist Chapter One Prize gutsygreatnovelist.com/winne…
Our paper Digital Twins for Biofluids is now online in @AnnualReviews. W/ @BloodFlowSim & @KrishnaGarikipa, we review physics-based and ML approaches for real-time, patient-specific prediction to advance diagnostics, therapeutic planning, and device design annualreviews.org/content/jo…
On the topic of #AI and #consciousness: the real discovery may not be that AI can fool us into thinking it has a sense of self, but that we’ve been fooling ourselves into thinking we do
Here's a fun one. Modeling solid mechanics with peridynamics coupled to a discretely conserving flow solver using immersed boundaries to simulate shock-induced breakup
I'll be joining Maize and Blue Courage and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel February 10 to discuss academic freedom and what's at stake as federal funding for science and medicine is cut. Tune in 7:00 PM this Tuesday: maizeandbluecourage.com/febr…
This week we bid farewell to Dr. Archana Sridhar! After 5 years advancing compressible multiphase turbulence modeling in our group, she’s off to warmer weather as a postdoc at @GeorgiaTech
