it's truly wild to think just how much of socialist rhetoric comes down to being economically illiterate and stupid
like they literally do not know how shares work
when they rant about billionaires they think they literally have a scrooge mcduck pile of gold in the basement
when they talk about raising taxes they don't know the US has one of the most progressive systems of all time and that the top 1% already pays nearly ** HALF** of all taxes
they have never run a lemonade stand
they have never built anything
their mindset is pure envy, pure greed
they will simultaneously hate Elon (despite him producing probably 100k jobs in his lifetime, and making many people into millionaires or billionaires) and idolize Ilhan Omar (despite her defrauding taxpayers)
they can't conceptualize that 1 mile of the california rail costs more to develop than all of spacex's total spend, of all time
they are fixed-pie thinkers who cannot conceptualize that if they want nice things they should build things
takers, thieves, malcontents, simpletons. not makers.
everything else in the dysfunctional, self-destructive idiocy they produce is just downstream of them being stupid and greedy

I was mid-hip thrust when I found out @Shanemgillis had called me a whore. Technically I found out four hours later, when I reviewed the footage of Saturday Night Live. My tripod was on the bench, my ring light was clamped to the squat rack and my boyfriend Tanner was holding the back-up phone for the side angle. Tanner films all my content. He is not allowed to look at me.
The “joke” was about how women dress at the gym. I know it was about me, because everything is. So I did what any survivor would do. I went to my car and filmed myself crying. It took 11 takes, because the lighting in a Range Rover is unforgiving, and grief is no excuse for a bad shot. In the final cut, you can see a single tear land on my sports bra right over the logo, which clicks through to an affiliate link. My caption: “I’m literally shaking.”
Then I put on the shortest shorts I own, went back inside, and filmed my ass from three angles with the caption, “Does this outfit work for you, Shane Gillis?” I wanted to send him a message that my body is not for men. To make sure Shane got the message, I tagged him. Then I tagged every man I follow. Some people say my response proved his point. These people are rapists.

Overheard at my local liberal-elite Massachusetts coffee shop:
A dad and grandfather were staging what sounded like a full-blown intervention for a teenage boy who had apparently told another kid, “Trump isn’t that bad”
They spent what felt like half an hour explaining their concerns before finally asking:
“Do you have anything to say for yourself, young man?”
The kid shrugged.
“I didn’t say I loved him. I just meant he isn’t Hitler.”
Dad seemed willing to accept that. Grandpa was not.
“Before you leave this coffee shop, you need to decide which side of history you want to be on.”
The kid looked him dead in the eyes and said:
“The not gay side.”
Dad and Grandpa looked like they were facing the headlights of a train but the gay barista nearly snorted coffee through his nose laughing.

Chesterton’s Fence is a warning:
If you don’t understand why a fence was built, you have no business tearing it down.
And I think this is one of the best frameworks for examining feminism.
Marriage. Monogamy. Sexual restraint. Motherhood. Gender roles. Male provision.
Feminism saw many of these institutions as “constraints” on women.
But what if it mistook civilization’s guardrails for women’s cages?
What if marriage didn’t just constrain women but it constrained male sexual opportunism?
What if sexual norms didn’t just restrict women but they demanded commitment and responsibility from men?
What if traditional roles didn’t just obligate women to nurture but they obligated men to provide, protect and sacrifice?
Maybe some fences needed to come down, I’m happy to keep that option open.
But before we tore them down, did we understand what they were holding up?
I’m going to assume many never took the time to question that.

These images are haunting. Children in September 2001 living their lives, going to school, making friends, completely unaware that in just ten days' time a group of men will execute their plan to change the world forever when Nickelback release their third album, Silver Side Up.

The absolute brutality of Glup Shitto unaliving Beeko Screko in The Whocares remains one of the most shocking moments in Star Wars history, that triple-tap lightsaber ignition was pure, ruthless savagery

it’s a shame what the uk is doing with ai and space. we pioneered this stuff. turing invented the entire field of computing here. deepmind was built in london, sold to google. arm designs the chips in every phone on earth, sold to softbank.
and space is worse. we cancelled our rocket programme three months before it successfully reached orbit. let the team launch anyway since the rocket was already in australia. it worked. we went home. we’re the only country ever to build launch capability and then give it up. the satellite is still up there.
at some point we stopped taking moon shots. decided leading in ai, space, computing wasn’t for us, and put everything into making the state as big as possible instead. completely focused on the wrong things

It is not just that liberals don’t know what conservatives think. Not knowing what other people think would be like, you think they support immigration, but it turns out they’re against immigration. Liberals know that conservatives are against immigration. They’re not confused or uneducated about *what* conservatives think.
What they lack is a model of how and why conservatives think as they do. What most of them cannot do is take the other side of the argument in a debate. When they model conservatives it basically reduces to, “well, I guess I’m just a big dumb idiot racist.” If you point this out, they do long threads about how you’re desperate for their approval, which is just another demonstration of the same phenomenon.
The term that people use for this kind of understanding is, “theory of mind.” It’s not my term. I didn’t invent it. We could use some other term. But you need *some* term for this to distinguish it from merely not understanding what other people think.
I don’t really see the utility of finding some other term. This term captures it pretty well. People know what it means. It seems to be working just fine.
