A lot of concern over Bama’s defensive performance - and it’s reasonable. It’s tough to defend at times, but ultimately despite the yardage - Alabama is doing a really good job not allowing points. However - looking at this past weekend, depth really started to stress Alabama up front. I think they really missed Zulu and Hill out there. Forget the narrative about it being UGA’s third or fourth back - first of all those guys are stars in the waiting, and with some of the OL wins they had - didn’t matter how good a kid was, they were getting those yards. Some bad fits late in the game that allowed Bama to get gashed up front. Felt very similar to the Rose Bowl bowl last year, but it wasn’t an “effort” problem this time around. THEY DIDNT QUIT. Felt more like there was a panic and/ or over-pursuit. Guys really trying hard to make a play and turn things around but just too aggressive. That’s the nature of the Swarm D I guess. Some of it is certainly coachable and fixable, but losing Green def showed up as well.
