An indescribable tragedy. Thoughts are with Al’s family, friends, and loved ones. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and quest for knowledge will be greatly missed. #MSUStrong
I am so very sorry to update original post. Alexandria Verner was an undergraduate research assistant in the lab, working on forensic microbiomes with Bethany Mickles, a graduate student of colleague @jenpechal @MSUEntomology - such sorrow for all families

Could we have prevented the COVID-19 pandemic if we better understood how humans come into contact & affect wildlife? Entomologist Eric Benbow studies how pathogens in aquatic insects can emerge & spread disease. Small organisms, epic possibilities #SpartansWill #SpartanInsects

Our team was able to pivot to get some new and potentially exciting data of Mycobacterium ulcerans in the USA that still directly supports the French Guiana work.
It's been a tough year for fieldwork, but we have been trying to make the best of it. Read more here: canr.msu.edu/news/studying-h…

Excited to see work led by an excellent grad student (sans social) published today (#oa). The complexity of this postmortem data is sometimes not super fun, but those challenges led to a different analytical approaches with interesting results. Well done! frontiersin.org/articles/10.…

Bittersweet to say farewell to Dr. Deborah Amulen. She accomplished so many goals towards using insects as feed during her year as an @AAPMSU fellow. I’m very excited to see her future successes! Hopefully, I’ll be able to visit Uganda soon. Safe travels! Keep up the great work!
Out in the field! We are very excited to be collecting samples, refining our collection protocols, & generating data! It’s the first trip for the students/tech on this project. In this brief preview, Dr. Heather Jordan shows us how to use a portable (& DIY) field centrifuge.
