Surviving alone teaches you to stop fearing people’s absence, because having no one makes you realize you’ve always had yourself.
I was alone at my worst, when I needed people the most and had no one to lean on. I had to find the strength to keep going on days when I barely had anything left to give. I learned how to comfort myself, pick myself up and survive things I never thought I’d have to face alone. So at this point in my life, I no longer beg people to stay or panic at the thought of losing them. I appreciate the people who choose to be here, but I’ve also learned that I can survive the absence of those who don’t. I know what it feels like to have no one and still make it through. So whoever stays, stays. Whoever leaves, leaves. I’ll be okay either way.
