ALT “It is important to recognize that many individuals with disabilities—particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities both are more likely to work in essential workplaces and are also at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 due to underlying health conditions co-occurring with their disabilities.” Julie Hocker, former U.S. Commissioner on Disabilities #EEOCHearing

Discrimination begins at diagnosis. For far too many with disabilities this means before birth. It is absolutely eugenics and it is absolutely wrong.
Is it “eugenics” to selectively abort babies diagnosed with Down syndrome? My response to abortion-rights supporters who defend this blatant form of discrimination: nationalreview.com/2021/04/i…

Disability discrimination starts at diagnosis. For far too many, that means before we are even born. As a society, we have no greater calling than to protect the most vulnerable.

When not working pays more than working, the govt can no longer say it is working for us. People with disabilities rely on in-person care every single hour of every day. And many direct service providers have been incentivized to stay home, leaving many stuck and in need.
COVID-19 “benefits” from the government are having unintended consequences for some of the most vulnerable people in our country.
This quadriplegic man tells @kelseybolar @IWF how stimulus spending has left him without caregivers—and what that means for people like him.
When It Pays Not to Work
A spastic quadriplegic man with a severe vision impairment says COVID-19 benefits are having the unintended consequence of leaving him without care.
Statistically, people with disabilities are more likely to suffer from serious underlying medical conditions and also face greater barriers to access to care - including the #COVID19 vaccine. Great work by my favorite team to help! #FlyEaglesFly philadelphiaeagles.com/news/…

#MargaretSanger wanted babies who looked like me to be killed. And I never want history to sanitize that out. Keep her in the books because #infanticide is a real and present danger to millions of babies with disabilities. She is no icon... but she is a lesson.
Sanger had a very dark side. She was a blatant eugenicist, and indeed, her birth-control campaign was not primarily focused on empowering women, but rather on tamping down procreation rates for categories of women she considered the unfit. nationalreview.com/corner/do…
