When abuse happens in a ministry context, irreparable harm takes place that has life-altering implications. Most survivors I speak with are not following Christ, have rejected the gospel, and will never set foot in church again.
Pastors & ministry leaders are held to a high standard of character & qualifications as set forth in Scripture. We have a biblical stewardship to lead and care well and to defend the vulnerable. One day we will stand before the Lord to give an account for our actions & conduct.
Caring for those survivors of abuse and trauma is our new mission field. Caring means offering help, hope, and healing found in Christ, His Word, and His Church. This is why churches and leaders need to be equipped to care and to safeguard.
Parents: teach & disciple kids by laying down foundation of God’s design for marriage, gender, & sexuality, teach them God’s ways & plan for redemption. As they get older, teach appropriate touch, talk & how to identify safe adults. Teach online safety & dangers of pornography
