He's a Jewish farmer who is rescuing sacred objects from closing congregations across small-town America — an ark, a bimah, a Torah, stained glass windows — and building a new synagogue on a two-acre cornfield in Illinois. For the latest chapter in this series, I flew with Nik and his family to the Netherlands — to the village where nearly 100 people kept the secret that saved his family from the Nazis.
