Why a $525B wealth manager put his headquarters in Miami:
“If you think about it with a totally clean slate, where do you want the headquarters for the business ultimately to be? I picked Miami.”
“I think we're still in the early days of what we'll see in South Florida.”
“We were by no means a pioneer of moving to Miami. But we were a little bit early relative to the flood of movement that’s happened on the back of us.”
— Corient CEO Kurt MacAlpine

introducing torii: your agents, your subscriptions, your machine.
grok bot and dots are built on the same idea: with today's frontier models, you can hand work to an agent manager instead of babysitting each agent yourself.
but they all want you locked into their ecosystem. so i built the same thing, on your own computer.
i've been running all my development through one telegram chat for months.
claude code and codex agents, each project in its own thread, a manager handing out work, checks running, PRs opening while i'm away from my desk.
torii is as lean as possible. it does a few things:
- connects claude code or codex to a telegram chat
- tells each agent to prioritize delegation
- helps rotate accounts when a subscription is running low

There's been a relative explosion of FDE adjacent jobs over the past year
~1,000% vs ~0% growth for the general tech sector and it's continuing to ramp up
Incredible time for anyone with technical + people skills to level up and / or join high growth startups!

if you're trying to move into applied AI and every post adds six more things you're apparently supposed to know, i understand why it starts feeling impossible to catch up.
i remember wondering how much more i needed to learn before i'd finally have enough.
after 50B+ tokens, these are the areas i'd spend time on. this was effectively my path into the field:
1. get very, very familiar with the ReAct agent pattern
2. study what makes a good harness. Pi is a great place to start
3. experiment with different models across actual tasks. learn how price, capability, model family, size, and modality affect your choices
4. learn about embeddings and vector retrieval
5. learn about state machines
6. use agents to build traditional software guardrails around the parts where agent behavior varies
pick something you want to build and work through these as they become relevant.
when it breaks, investigate with your agent. what happened? what did you misunderstand? which piece do you need to learn to make the next attempt better?
give yourself a project that makes the answers matter.
you can spend a long time preparing to start. i want you to give yourself something real to work through.

Meet the Capsule Video Agent. Available now.
Yes, this launch video was made with it (in 3 shots).
No, this isn’t just HTML pretending to be video. We built a truly native video rendering engine from the ground up that outperforms HTML in aesthetics, speed, capabilities, and portability.
For the first time, making a professional, on-brand video is easier than writing a doc, building a deck, or designing a graphic.
I believe the impact on how we communicate will be profound.
To put it in context: roughly a billion people make slide presentations every month.
Until today, only a tiny fraction of those people knew how to make a video.
Now every sales follow-up gets a personalized video.
Every prospect gets a custom demo.
Every proposal becomes a visual pitch.
Every feature gets a video when it ships.
Every blog post becomes a YouTube video.
Every customer question gets a video explainer.
Every new employee gets personalized onboarding.
Every training document becomes a video lesson.
Every company announcement becomes a video.
Every QBR comes to life.
From this day forward, every idea worth sharing becomes a video.
It's a big promise, I know.
But give it a try.
I think you'll love it.
Kinda wild that we all spent part of childhood hearing about the hole in the ozone layer and then one day everyone just stopped talking about it.
Did we fix that?? Great work everyone???
