A retired NASA engineer who had worked on the Space Shuttle program for 25 years was hired by SpaceX at age 62. He described the first week as the most disorienting experience of his professional life. At NASA, a design change required 3 meetings, 2 committees, a review board, and 6 to 18 months of documentation. At SpaceX, his new supervisor said "if it works, build it. If it doesn't, change it by Friday." He sat at his desk after the first day and called his wife. He told her he felt like a man who had been swimming with ankle weights for 25 years and someone just cut them off. He could move. He could decide. He could build something in the morning and test it in the afternoon. The constraint that he had accepted as the nature of aerospace engineering turned out to be the nature of bureaucracy. Within 6 months he had contributed to more design iterations than he had completed in his last 5 years at NASA. Not because he was working harder. Because the time between having an idea and testing the idea collapsed from months to hours. The same brain. The same knowledge. A different operating system. He described a specific moment where he proposed a modification to a Raptor engine component. At NASA, the proposal would have entered a queue. At SpaceX, the modification was machined by the end of the day and tested by the following morning. He watched his idea become a physical object in 18 hours. At NASA, 18 hours would not have been enough to schedule the first meeting to discuss whether to schedule a meeting. He told an interviewer: "I didn't get smarter when I went to SpaceX. I got faster. The intelligence was always there. The system was in the way." The difference between SpaceX and NASA is not talent. NASA has extraordinary talent. The difference is the time between a thought and a test. SpaceX compresses it. NASA elongates it. The same engineer produces 10x more at SpaceX than at NASA because the bottleneck was never the engineer. It was the meetings about the meetings about the work.

ok so I’m going to try something I just moved a startup's Webflow site to Astro with an AI coding agent. same design, same copy, one evening. mobile went 84 → 100 on Lighthouse, 4.2s → 1.3s load, 3.6 MB → 106 KB per page. AI-agent readiness went from “Not Ready” to Level 4. want me to do yours? taking 5 sites. $1,000 flat. done in 48 hours over the weekend. what you get: -pixel-faithful copy of your site in clean code -hosted on Cloudflare or Vercel (yours, not mine) -speed pass (usually 90-100 on mobile) -every page gets real titles, descriptions, OG images, structured data -llms.txt, AI-crawler rules, markdown versions of every page so ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity can actually read you -forms, redirects, analytics carried over -before/after report with the numbers -30 min handoff where I show you how to make changes by just asking Claude Code or Codex. “add a pricing FAQ.” “make a page for agencies.” it opens a PR, you click merge. no dev, no designer, no Webflow seat. requirements: -you’re on Webflow (Framer probably fine too) -under ~100 pages, no ecommerce or memberships -you can log into your domain DNS if you don’t like the result, you don’t pay. Webflow stays live until you flip DNS so there’s zero risk. reply “migrate” and DM w/ your URL inspired by the recent expiremental offer @Shpigford ran :-)

you can just do crazy stuff... like blanket execs of your b2b buyer TAM (even if its super small) with TV commercials, IG/FB ads, podcast/radio ads so you make sure they see 3-5 ads per channel per week, forever. and now, with gen ai, make sure they are getting new ads every month so its always fresh and new. with every ad channel being completely different formats so you create a 'holy sh*&, they are everywhere' ecoho chamber you control....just for a couple k a month in actual media costs... tech x out here not realizing that growth world is 100x bigger than they thought it was...
i built @WisprFlow’s paid ads program here’s how i’d rebuild it in 30 days

i was addicted to blackhat marketing 'forums' there for several years in the early 2010's. so much creativity around so many new/different/emerging business models. definitely lots of unethical stuff, but the principles around the approaches are universal, just like anything. also sold 'seo' marketing services to local dentists etc back in 2010 ish, was just buying link building services from south asian data entry farms, then charging the dentist like $5k a month, would spend maybe $250 a month on the actual work.... and it delivered results and they were happy.
everyone in tech suddenly wants to hire a growth killer but you're looking in the wrong places the best growth people i know didn't start their careers at Meta, Google or some fancy SF startup here's what we were doing 10 years ago: > black hat SEO > dropshipping in bali > info products & vsl funnels > affiliate marketing networks > farming niche YouTube channels > automating social media accounts > selling virtual currencies in video games > building & flipping instagram theme pages > industrializing NFT collection launches during NFT summer we were gaming algorithms, exploiting distribution loopholes and figuring out how to make money online we mastered the art of capturing attention, arbitraging traffic and redirecting it wherever money could be made we didn't learn distribution from a playbook we learned it by putting our own money on the line and here's the funny part most of the killers i know today still have side hustles making as much money, if not more, than their startup salaries we're not in tech because we need a paycheck we're here because making money on the internet eventually gets boring we want bigger games to play, harder problems to solve and more exciting things to build we're not corporate marketers we're internet grinders who got bored and moved to bigger playgrounds that's your talent pool

A wise mentor once told me: "Before you play the game, study the winners. Before you build a company, study the founders who came before you. Before you write a book, study the authors you admire. Originality comes after apprenticeship, not before it."

your competitive advantage is never going to be taste. anyone who dresses well has also worn wack fits. anyone who makes art has also made some bullshit. the real competitive advantage is your willingness to suck, to get embarrassed, to simply be willing to try.

this is so huge, really exciting times
Today, Nolla Health became the first organization in the U.S. (and possibly the world) to receive regulatory approval for an AI to issue initial prescriptions. This makes Nolla the first ever actual end-to-end AI doctor.

4700 word labor of love. I've seen all the patterns and heard every story about in-house brand/creative studio teams. This is my vision for where brand teams can go (and why I joined @tryramp). Brand systems that behave like jazz. Brand as software.
