SIMカードは元々キャッシュカードやクレジットカード等のIDカードの技術や設備を活用していたのでフルサイズはそのまんまカードだったのですよね 携帯電話に使われる頃には、殆どがミニSIMに移行しましたが初期の機種はフルサイズで使うのものもあるにはありました

SIMカードってクレカサイズの台紙から切り取るように使うけど、昔はあのカードサイズがそのままSIMカードだったんだよね。
