Today's blog post is from my recent trip to the Pantanal of Brazil. We were still in the south Pantanal, but had moved to our second location, with our ultimate goal to photograph the Red and green macaw.
We got some amazing photos! Check them out at: blog.jeffcable.com
Another photo from last weeks trip to the Pantanal of Brazil. Here is a motion pan of a Red and green macaw in flight. Taken handheld at 1/80th of a sec. Tough to shoot, but a great challenge!!!

Another really fun photo from the south of Pantanal. We were photographing the macaw and parakeets when I turned and saw these two chachalaca fighting in mid-air. Cool action shot!

I just published my first blog post from the Pantanal Photo Tour — a collection of favorite shots and stories from the first days on the trip, all from the south Pantanal.

We had a slower morning and even had to switch out propellers on the boat. BUT...while our driver was fixing the motor, this group of parakeets took off right in front of us!

This morning started out slow on the river here in the Pantanal, but we were rewarded BIG TIME when we came across these two male jaguars. They were in perfect light and in the perfect spot for photos!!

If you like photographing colorful birds, the Pantanal does NOT disappoint.
I have been using the pre-continuous feature of the Canon R5 MKII and Canon R6 MKIII to grab these fast action shots. And wow, the colors!!!
It was our first morning in the North Pantanal and we spotted numerous Jaguars. They are just BEAUTIFUL! We also came across some nice birds and the Giant otters, who were enjoying some sashimi. And this is just day one!

Today was our travel day from the South to the North Pantanal. We arrived at our new lodge around 4pm and had a little over an hour to capture images before sunset. We had lots of Capuchin monkeys in the area, which was really fun!
Yesterday we spent the morning and afternoon at the Buraco Das Araras Sinkhole. It was so AWESOME to photograph the Red and Green macaw in flight. Fom the top of the sinkhole, and being above or at eye level with the birds was INCREDIBLE!

This morning we went out and captured more photos of the AMAZING birds here in the Pantanal of Brazil. It is photo overload!
(Canon R5 Mark II and R6 Mark III, RF 100-300mm lens and RF 100-500mm lens)
It is really hot here in the Pantanal, but the photos are pretty hot too!!! This is just from this morning. We are having fun!
A Blue and yellow macaw in morning light, Giant anteater, and Hyacinth macaw.

We arrived in the Southern part of the Pantanal with about 30 minutes of light left. We managed to capture images of the Blue and Yellow Macaw with the last remaining sunlight. So much more to come!!!

Today, we all took a day tour of Sao Paulo, Brazil and tomorrow is the start of my Pantanal Photo Tour. Let the fun begin!
And yeah...I took a photo of myself in this mirror. The old style selfie!
Two new B&H presentations are now live on YouTube. Information and link are on the blog today at: blog.jeffcable.com
Enjoy!!!
I just looked up at the moon and decided to try putting a 2x extender on my Canon RF 100-500mm lens to shoot at 1000mm for the first time. You can see every crater. Amazing!

I was looking at the availability for my upcoming photo tours and noticed something kind of funny.
For some strange reason, I have exactly TWO spots left on almost every one of my photo tours over the next two years!

September 11 was a day that I will never forget, and being in NYC two months later and seeing the aftermath was heart wrenching. I captured some images and then just had to put the camera down and reflect. Let's hope this never happens again (anywhere)!
My first thoughts on the new iPhone Duo for photographers and photo enthusiasts. What do you think?
